Can't add new patients

I finally managed to install freemed 0.8.5 on ubuntu and it's running. However, I can't add new patients. After clicking on patients>new, filing the required fields and clicking on save, I'm taken to a page which says "you must select a patient". And yet this is supposed to be the first patient. How can I register new patients

Did you follow all of the steps for entering new patients as shown in the visual tutorials?  The link to the visual tutorials is on the FreeMED support page.
If you have followed all of the steps and the problem persists, you may have set inadequate permissions for yourself.
