I've searched all over and cannot find any decent instructions on how to set this up. I'm trying to learn how to set it up in two environments.

1. On a 3rd party web host. Say I wanted to install it on GoDaddy, how would I do this? Is it even possible?

2. Set up with xamp on a windows machine. I tried to view the windows instructions link but Google Docs says it can't retrieve the document.

Also, where can I download just FreeMED? The download at source forge has me download something called FreeSHIM instead?

GoDaddy would have to support the "minimum requirements" for running
FreeMED, including MySQL and PHP5. Other capabilities (fax, printing,
etc) would require certain programs be installed.

I'll pass that on to Dr Bradley, he's the one who maintains those documents.

Darn sourceforge release system. I would suggest grabbing it from
Subversion, using:

svn co http://svn.freemedsoftware.org/freemed/trunk freemed

FreeSHIM is a medical device interface suite (http://freeshim.org/)
for interfacing with label printers, vital stats collection devices,
dosing pumps, etc.

Hi Matt,
The install instructions for FreeMED are found on this support site.  They are:
For Ubuntu 10.10
For Debian 5.0
We don't work with third party sites like GoDaddy and don't know what they have to offer.  Look at the FreeMED install instructions and make sure GoDaddy allows you to install Linux, mySQL and PHP5.  For importing faxed images you would need to be able to connect a modem to the computer and a phone.  In order to import scanned images you would need to be able to scan to the FreeMED location on GoDaddy.
The instructions for installing on a VMWare image on MSWindows are found at the following URL's:
http://173.14.158.29/freemed//How to use the Vmware FreeMED image in MSWindows.pdf    or
https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B0se5mbYKcOSZDAyNThkZTktOTgyNS00MzAzLWI0MTAtMzg0NjVjZmVhYjk4&hl=en&pli=1
Make sure you don't look for the FreeMED source on Sourceforge.  It is not there.
The instructions tell you how to download it from SVN
Let us know if you have further questions.
