I just installed FreeMat 4.0. I compiled it from source. The
installation seemed to go smoothly. I am running it on an Ubuntu
system.
Whilst, FreeMat 4.0 seems to be running smoothly, some of the
functions I have tried have given an error message indicating that
they are not defined. Specifically I have had the error message for
the following functions:

etime
sprand
sprandn

TheStatsMan,

I've been trying to get it installed on an Ubuntu system (just
upgraded to karmic, ver 9.10, this evening). I'm still relatively new
to Linux. Any help in getting it loaded would be appreciated! Mind
providing the steps (beyond what Samit provided in the source code)
that you took to get it running?

If I could get it running, I'd be happy to see if (a) I can duplicate
the problem and (b) what it might take to get it resolved.

Thanks,

Gary

I suspect that your path to the toolbox directory is incorrect. If you
type rootpath you should get a directory that contains "toolbox"
directory for FreeMat 4 (not Freemat 3).

You can change the rootpath by running "rootpath gui".

I hope this helps,

Eugene

I have fixed the problem. I miss-read the compile instructions.
Basically I typed in make and did not follow that with make install.
It still built the executable and it ran and had most of the
functionality, except for a few undefined functions. Sudo make install
fixed the problems.
