In the past year, I've set up both an LLC and an S-Corp. I did the LLC
with bizfilings.com, and the S-Corp with a lawyer.

I chose an LLC for my side consulting and web site business, which has
only me involved, so I wanted the least expensive structure that would
provide some liability shield.

A lawyer is not required to incorporate. I set up a Florida S-Corp
myself ten years ago. Now you can do it online much more easily. Check
out [link]. I don't think you need to be a Florida
resident, and there is no state income tax here, so it's very

Hi all -
I'm looking to set up an S-Corp (pretty sure anyway :) and wanted to
see from those that have done so if you worked with a local lawyer or
if there are any (reliable/decent) online services that can process/
generate the paperwork (articles of incorporation, etc.).
And for those of you that didn't set up an S-Corp, why not?
