I wonder about the name POE, if this really is a name, and if, from
where ?
The american editor, autor and poet is told to be born in Boston in
1809. I do not know anything about his parents except for that his
mother was an actress. My book says that the parents died when
Edgard Allan Poe was two years old, and he was raised by John
Allan, a merchant in Rochester, and this man had none children of
his own. Edgard Allan POE was sent to England to go to school.
When back in USA again there was a quarrel with John Allan about
some money and Poe went back to Boston.
As far as I can understand, Edgard was not adopted by John Allan,
only his fosterson.
So I am wondering :
a. Were Edgard related by blood connections to John Allan ?
b. Do anyone knew the names of the parents of Edgard Allan POE ?
c. Is Poe the name of a place, a thing or slang for something in UK ?
d. Did his parents emigrate to the US from UK ?
