Ryanair threatens to cut Prestwick routes
Budget airline Ryanair has threatened to cut routes at Prestwick amid
a sharp downturn in aviation.
The Irish no-frills operator said all 28 routes from the Ayrshire
airport were "under review" following talks held yesterday with
management to discuss performance.

Or the majority of their current 5 year deals at Prestwick are coming to an
end. They will try the same tactics at EDI when their discounted rate comes
to end there.

them everything they want for nothing. Bully boy tactics from FR yet again.
I wonder if they will now be taking full page adverts out in the papers like
they did in Inverness.
At the end of the day the airport needs to make money in order to stay open
but FR seems to think the airport should pay them. So that means the only
way the airport can make money is to screw every pax for every tea, coffee,
soft drink, meal going as well as parking. This is what happens when you
have nearly all your eggs in one basket.
At the end of the day PIK management will give into FR, rather sad.

When handling charges are already rock bottom there is nowhere to go in
negotiations. Infratil won't want to act as Ryanair's charity when they have
to cut every cost they can to lower losses and they might decide they can do
just as well without them. That would spell the end of pax operations at PIK
which is sad. It must be a bit like groundhog day for those also involved in
1990 when mothballs and raves were the order of the day but the business has
never been in an enviable position since the day Ryanair swaggered in. Sure
the terminal won a reprive for a good decade but it was never going to be
sustainable with one airliine calling all the shots.
