A flight was delayed after a man repeatedly asked to enter the
cockpit of a plane as it prepared to take
off on Monday evening.

A 27-year-old man, believed to be an assistant air traffic
controller, requested to sit in the cockpit of the
Birmingham-bound flight.

The pilot of the Flybe flight refused to fly from Glasgow Airport.

Strathclyde Police said he returned the aircraft to the stand where
police arrested the man, who was later
released without charge.

The incident on Monday night caused the flight to be delayed for
over an hour.

It is believed the man, who was a passenger on the 1930 GMT Flybe
flight, had asked to sit in the jump seat
in the cockpit.

This was previously a privilege afforded to some members of air
traffic staff prior to recent increases in
security measures by airlines.
