Those of you in these boards that are well experienced in web page
design please reply.

Okay on my published works page

http://johnw.freeshell.org/bible/published_works.htm

I have many bible messages/bible studies. The messages were originally
created in MS Word, and from there I converted them to HTML format.
Often when I do this the htm files look different and in some cases
words are missing from the original MS Word document.

I want my messages and study curriculum (when I decide to add it) to
look good enough for a pastor to print off and use. Would you suggest I
add the original MS Word documents to the page or convert them all to a
.pdf format? Pdf files take up allot of disk space, and cant always be
viewed on all computers and because I am using Word 98 for the older Mac
os I will need to save each file as a post script file and then have OSX
convert them to pdf files. This can take some work. Or do you suggest
I just clean up my already current htm files? I suppose htm files will
work, but oftentimes professional curriculum and messages are in a pdf
format as html files seem tom look different on each computer you visit.

Thanks for the tips. I chose Mac OSX over Windows XP being that OSX is
based on a much stabler Unix over a Windows NT.

Your crossposts are largely incorrect; followups set to the main mac
group in the event you are looking for information and not trolling.

If there's something the other groups want to talk about, great. Please
remove the mac. groups from that if you would.

I saw the way cool "copy & paste" feature,
which Adobe doesn't have.

Tell me, does it have the ability to zoom
in and out, like Adobe? And will it replace
Adobe as the default, so that when I go
to load a PDF file on the Internet, it will
be called up, instead of Adobe?

Also, when I scroll, will it also scroll in
real time, like Adobe 7? Or will I not
see the pages moving until I let go,
like previous versions of Adobe?

This page has errors. I immediately noticed
the error in teaching that the Sabbath was
changed from Saturday to Sunday. That is
not supported by any Scripture. In fact, the
NT shows that Paul, for example, would go
into the synagogues and teach on the Sabbath.

The Christians gathered on the first day of
the week. That does not mean that the
Sabbath changed.

Okay, I went ahead and downloaded it. :)

It's a nice little reader and fast too!

One question that maybe you can answer...

If I make it the default reader, since there
is no real installation, I guess I would go into
file associations, to reestablish Adobe as
the default?

And to repeat my other question, will it, since
it is the default, open up when I read a PDF
file through the web? I would think it would.

Thanks for the link! :)

Hey Doc and thanks for the offer.

Well take a look at my Published works page and tell me how I can
improve the bible messages format. I want pastors and others to use my
messages for sermons, bible studies, and other CE uses. Should they be
converted to pdf, word or remain as they are in the lame html format?

No it is what you stuff up

And you are NOT a professional writer except of a couple of paragraphs
about singing Christmas tree, how to deflect bullets with a Bible (so long
as it isn't a KJV) and a tail (sic) about a dead cat

Thats a part from a few sex yarns you supposedly flogged on the internet

Well, since you killfiled him, it's going to be a bit problematic,
isn't it?

If it were me, I'd get someone with a better clue about what he's
doing. If your own articles are any indication, it may or may not be

Good morning sir.
I accessed your site, and personally, I see nothing wrong with
leaving the html pointers which enlarge the text when clicked on. I do
have a code that is used to bring up the text in mouseover, but the
problem is, the pointer must remain over the title in order to
properly view the text. I was going to use it in my Christian
Encouragement section, but some of the verses I'm using are very long,
and the mouseover is not the most practical for that. So instead, I am
planning to use mouseover for the section titles in it, and simply
have the html pointer to bring up the passages when clicked, like
yours.
Best of luck with your site; looks good. I don't know if I have been
of any help at all, but if I can help you with anything in it, please
don't hesitate to give me a shout. My address is romathATromathDOTcom
When you get the time, please access my site: http://www.romah.com/
and while there, please take a look at the Christian Encouragement
section, as well as sign the Guest Book, will you?
Take care, and God bless
Doc

I think you're an idiot, a liar, and a ranting lunatic. However, I do
think that you are aware enough of your many previous gaffes to know
that archiving simply leaves fodder for those that can rightfully go
after you for the stupid things that you say and do. That's why you

What you "do" is stupidity and incompetence.

Sorry but this is quite incorrect - I think you are once again the victim
of a piece of wishful thinking on the part of a preacher who really should
know better.

The word believe is in fact probably derived in a tortuous but well
recorded pattern from the same root as the German word "glauben"

An example of just how tortuous the path a word follows over centuries is
found in the words "fox" and "vixen" which are BOTH derived from the same
root word in German (Fuchs - female Fuchsin)

Believe - often formerly spelt beleeve - came down to us via forms such as
the Saxon "geliefan" and Anglian "gelefan". The modern German "glauben"
is found in Middle High German as "gelouben" There is some possibility
that the actual derivation is in fact the same as the word "love" in the
sence of "to hold dear"

Your preachers error seems to be of the same ilk as the error that
confuses truth with loyalty - however there is more justification for that
confusion in that whilst the concept of truth is philosophically one that
in English is quite strongly derived from Hellenist philosophy, the actual
word is taken from the old German word for loyalty

It is interesting to examine the physical path whereby a word evolved.
But it is often a mistake to think that that derivation in fact is the
sole origin of its present meaning. The meaning of words is derived not
through evolution in the simple sense of physical change to the word - it
comes mainly from cultural usage.

If you examine the worlds best dictionary - The Oxford dictionary - which
is several feet thick you will find that derivations are given from two
distinct source paths - One is the actual physical form of the word - The
other its its cultural use as indicated by its appearance in documents etc

I strongly recommend examining a set of these volumes of the Oxford dictionary

Did that already. It will work if I open a PDF file
that I have saved locally, but not if I open one
through a link in my browser. It must have
something to do with the Acrobat BHO that
Adobe installs. My concern now, is that if I
uninstall Acrobat completely, I won't be able
to open a PDF file from a web link at all.

Oh, right. Let's look at what you snipped:

[Restored portion]

jw> Ok, BJ, so you don't want me involved!

jw> I withdraw my offer!

Interesting, since you also told "Bible John" that you had killfiled
him.

jw> You crawl so low, BJ, that you are going to get one of
jw> the worst HATERs in the group to edit your web page?

Wait a minute...I thought you withdrew your "offer."

> You ARE insane!

> "Bad luck!"

> (I wouldn't want to lie and wish you "good luck")

You already lied when you said you had him killfiled. So what's one
more, eh?

[End restored portion]

So what you snipped was my pointing out your lie. There was no "hate."
Your lies and evasions simply continue, as does your fradulent
"Christianity."

Oh, right...after three days of my pointing it out, this is the best
you can do, huh?

You claimed to killfile BJ, and you were responding to him in pretty
short order after that. You changed your mind almost immediately, but
I pointed it out a couple of days ago and pretty soon after the alleged
killfiling. You even snipped away portions where I pointed out this
lie and didn't answer them. *Then* you decide to tell us that you
changed your mind because you know I nailed you on it, and you can't
get away from it.

You certainly are entitled to change your mind, but I don't think
that's what happened.

Sure I do. These are, in the end, secular forums, and you are just one

It seems, liar John, that you have still not asked your doctor to
help you understand what "Public" means. If you do not want your
posts to a public place answered then start posting in a private
location and then the public will not respond. Noodle on it.

>He may just realize it, since he hides behind a phony name.

Again, Liar John, the only thing even remotely "criminal" is your
unethical behavior of deliberately placing yourself where you admit
to everyone you cannot cope. The only thing "criminal" is your total
lack of personal responsibility.

Dear John,

Here's a word of knowledge for you. There are, in fact, several people
here, maybe even scores and scores of them, literally, who are actually
bright enough to take advantage of the Internet's anonymity. I
didn't fully understand the wisdom of this at first, but you, who is
older and, thus, supposedly wiser, should have realized this long
before me.

Now, for you to sit there, judging and implying that Falcon is doing
something illegal, is just another example of many where you regularly
practice your strangely-skewed, very odd, frequently zany, and often
perverse notions of Christian behavior, which are nothing more than
your sum bodily parts yet remaining fleshly, earthly, and carnal. You
have one foot in the Spirit, but the other foot is still dragging in
the dirt. You're like a struggling dog (or child) that always has to
be first collared and then dragged to the tub.

Luv ya',
