No, we're not dead yet! We were just dormant until ARIA got some
momentum. If you're still interested in ARIA, then feel free to ask
questions or help new folks understand ARIA.

There will also be some discussions around planning the new ARIA
developer portal at https://developer.mozilla.org/en/aria -- feel free
to make suggestions or even join in. The developer portal is on a
wiki, after all.

Yay :)

I completely forgot what I initially signed up to ask about - but what I am wondering about now is if there are any automated tools for highlighting pain points?

I realize that it would be imperfect - but perhaps something along the lines of:
20 seconds to reach 'link x' or 'links x,y,z are not annotated'

The developer portal looks like a great resource.

I'd love to see some collaboration on the overall design of the documentation. I worry about overloading visitors with too many links. I think we definitely want quality of quantity. I also liked the old idea of the codetalks examples but we'd need to make an easier-to-collaborate repository.

Something off the top of my head: one thing I find myself going to for really quick hack-testing is the w3 "Try it yourself": http://www.w3schools.com/html5/

I would personally like to see something like this (should be really easy to build but there are probably security issues) filled with widget examples. Each example page could have a known issues page.

Cheers,
David

Right, we need a page on the developer portal for testing tools. I'm not even sure what's out there right now.

Need to figure out where we can track these ideas.

David, where should we collaborate on the design ... Should we set up a wiki.mozilla.org page for that?

Well, if you guys want: http://www.assembla.com/catalog/tag/collaboration
Wiki + tickets for actionable tasks, repos for test cases or sketching out approaches to solutions etc.

Full disclosure: I happen to work at assembla.com

I saw this after I already threw stuff into a Google doc -- the doc is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/15KEVeyx0xmAwCkXhulXbVnravt_ZZ3eyJyCuFE5rxPY/edit?hl=en_US
Can you see if it lets you at least request to be invited?

I think Assembla might be good if we get to the stage where we need something more heavyweight.

If anyone has problems accessing Google docs, feel fre let me know on the list or privately. The last thing I want to do is lock any contributors with disabilities out.

Hi y'all,

Something I think is going to be confusing for devs is the 'native
HTML5 playing nice with ARIA semantics' thing. In general it is simple
enough, the added semantic from ARIA will trump native HTML5 semantics
(with some restrictions) but this is going to be tough going for most
devs. More so when they are presented with duplicate roles, never mind
trying to figure out the API mappings..

My 2 cents

Josh

Thanks. I've added folk's suggestions to the Google Doc:

Please review and edit. If you request to edit I get a notification and can add you.

Perhaps we could take the diff from http://wiki.codetalks.org and add
it MDZ aria docs? (then drop codetalks to avoid yet another reference
:)

PS: Hope I didn't post this message twice (had to re-sign up to free-aria)

Hi Peter,

Already being done. All useful content has been migrated. Just waiting for the admin for codetalks to add the contextual redirects. After that's done codetalks can close down after about 6 months.
