Commentary-
Again, the syntax [verb] [noun] I'm interpreting as from the realm of
the text adventure, which, while not an unappreciated tradition, does
not have quite the same feel as the single-key driven rogue-like.

This rule does introduce a puzzle, but one of interpretation/
understanding rather than one that begins or concludes by picking up a
stone.

Recent quoted text includes "Every future move must introduce, solve,
or both, some kind of puzzle" (284:7) and "Each of the next 5 rules
will pick up one of those stones, and describe a restriction that the
stone places on it" (284:4).
