Show Up For Your Immune System

Do you show up for everything that happens in your life?
Well, of course, if it's happening to you or it involves you
directly, you have to be there; you have no choice but to show
up. But do you really show up with your entire body, mind, and
spirit? Probably not!
Barry Sultanoff, M.D., is a founding member of the American
Holistic Medical Association and he says that fully showing up
in every moment signals your immune system that you are
serious about living so they do everything possible to preserve your
good health.
From his training and research, he knows that premature death
is often the result of a failing immune system. So the
question is how can you keep your immune system healthy and
operating with optimal effectiveness for as many years as
possible?
His tentative conclusion is that your immune cells take their
lead from your attitude-in-action. When you are fully involved
in whatever you may be doing, your immune cells are
super-charged to defend your body from all possible intruders.
Now Dr. Sultanoff knows that no one, including himself, is
going to be fully present at every waking moment of their
life. Therefore he suggests that we each find several passions with
which we can be involved on a regular basis. It doesn't matter
what these activities are. The important thing is that they
excite us. They will be even more effective if we can
associate some stimulating rhythm with them.
Dr. Sultanoff has taken up in-line skating and dancing,
especially the tango. He says that whenever he dances or
skates, he envisions his immune cells getting up to dance or
skate as well. He suggests that the rhythms from these
activities stimulate his immune system and activate his energy
as well.
Your goal:
To show up fully for as many moments of your life as possible
and to develop some strong passions that will super-charge
your system.
The result:
You will have increased energy and better health. You will
simply feel good and probably live longer.
Your assignment:
Notice when you are not fully present to the things you are
doing during the next week. What would it take to be more
present to some of these activities? Can you identify at
least two activities about which you are, or can become,
passionate? If not, seek to develop such passions.

When Albert Einstein was making the rounds of the speaker's circuit, he
usually found himself eagerly longing to get back to his laboratory work. One
night as they were driving to yet another rubber-chicken dinner, Einstein
mentioned to his chauffeur (a man who somewhat resembled Einstein in looks &
manner) that he was tired of speech making.
"I have an idea, boss," his chauffeur said. "I've heard you give this speech
so many times. I'll bet I could give it for you." Einstein laughed loudly and
said, "Why not? Let's do it!" When they arrive at the dinner, Einstein donned
the chauffeur's cap and jacket and sat in the back of the room. The chauffeur
gave a beautiful rendition of Einstein's speech and even answered a few
questions expertly.
Then a supremely pompous professor asked an extremely esoteric question about
anti-matter formation, digressing here and there to let everyone in the
audience know that he was nobody's fool. Without missing a beat, the chauffeur
fixed the professor with a steely stare and said, "Sir, the answer to that
question is so simple that I will let my chauffeur, who is sitting in the
back, answer it for me."
