I've been using DMFS in Sony Vegas Pro 12 without much issue (using the "Video Output" option).

However, I'm trying to downconvert some 1080i HD footage to 480P SD. Due to the inherent interlacing issues, I always used Image Sequencing in the past. I seem to be having an issue, though.

When I click "Image Sequence Output" in DMFS instead of "Video Output", choose the folder and hit Next, it gives me the error:

"Unable to load "ImageSequence.dll". Please check if you have GDI+ available in your machine. For more information visit ......."

When I go the link, it brings me to an SDK for WinXP.

I'm running Win7 x64. I've tried various other tactics for trying to get it to work but nothing seems to fix it.

Has anyone had this issue, and if so, what did you do (if anything) to fix it?

Thanks,
Travis

Hello,

I've got the same error. More, I can't change the output directory. I think this option is no more possible.
Why do you use this function "Image sequence output"?
You can render directly your footage in progressive mode by choosing "Progressive" in the project properties.

The reason I do the Image Sequence Output is because my source footage is interlaced. If I was rendering this project for internet viewing I would render it straight to progressive as you suggested, however this project is going to DVD and progressive video would be re-encoded in DVD Architect back to interlaced, resulting in poor video quality.

Rendering to an image sequence first (PNG or TIFF) automatically removes interlacing and retains the quality of the video in the intermediate process. Since the interlacing lines are now gone, when you re-encode the final video for DVD Architect (interlaced) it is a perfect image. The only problem with doing it this way is that it takes up a massive amount of disk space due to each frame being rendered to a 1-2mb TIF file.

It's a bit confusing but it's the best way to get the highest quality video.

Hello,

It's very easy to change the properties of your project. Create your project then change properties just before the rendering:

  • For internet (computers) you can choose the progressive mode (no interlaced frames). I use this mode.
  • For DVD Architectchange properties of your project and choose interlaced (with top first or bottom first it's depending of your rushes).

What do you think about this? Rendering with "Image Sequence Output" is not the only one solution to have not interlaced output.

I hope I'm clear. Try this and answer me please.

Regards.
