Hello,

Thanks for the new release.

I have a problem using it, here is the details :

- I use Sony Vegas 10.0c (x64)
- I installed v2.10 as shown in the "tutorial video" for Vegas x64

In Vegas :
- I opened my project
- selected Debugmode Frameserver AVI (template is : "Project
Settings")
- then saved the file to "test.avi" (and checked the box for PCM
audio, if I don't do that there is no audio in "test.avi")

Rendering work is in progress without error, but when I try to open
the "test.avi", I can only hear the sound because there is no video at
all
(Tested with MPC-HC)

I tried to open it with VLC (last version) : It can't open DFSC file :
"no appropriate decoder, VLC doesn't support DFSC"

I tried to test with a new "basic" project in Vegas, same problem

It seems the DFSC codec is causing it (?), when installing the
Framserver, it should decode DFSC file ?
Video: DFSC 1920x1200 30.00fps

Thx (a lot !) in advance for your reply.

Regards,

Satish

Can you try opening the signpost AVI with the built-in windows media
player? I suspect that the frameserver is not compatible with 64 bit
applications but may work fine with 32 bit applications.

I tried both Windows Media Player x86 & x64, it didn't work (sound is
100% ok, duration is correct, but still no video)

[in my previous message : VLC is x86 Portable version, MPC-HC which is
my regular player is x64]

I can do every test you need ;-)

When 3rd party DirectShow filters are used, especially very aggressive
ones - they often disregard windows driver settings and attempt to
handle video stream on its own. I doubt they will succeed with DMFS
codec though - it has nothing in the video stream, just frame numbers
and it must be handled by DMFS provided codecs. I would suggest trying
on another machine without any 3rd party players/codecs installed to
verify DMFS operation.

Thx a lot for your replies.

I can't really test on another machine at the moment.

So, here is what I did :

- uninstalled every codecs on my computer (i use the Shark007 codec
pack, very professional & up-to-date work)
- uninstalled DebugMode Frameserver 2.10
- uninstalled VLC (x86)
- uninstalled MPC-HC (x64)
- reboot
- CCleaner : registry + cleaner
- reinstalled Frameserver

=> with no 3rd party codecs installed (no video at the moment can be
played without VLC Portable which use its own codecs) : I have the
same problem as before :-\

I used Frameserver 2.7 + Vegas 9 (on Win XP x86) a long time ago &
didn't have this kind of problem (i've always used 3rd party 'codecs'
like ffdshow mainly).

Do you have any feedback of someone using Win7 x64 + Vegas 10.0c x64 +
DM FS 2.10 working ?
If yes, does he use ffdshow or other codecs ? or only VLC ?
Should we work only on Vegas 10 x86, even on Win7 x64 ?

(i tried to post links to 7 screenshots here but Google returns an
error)

Thx again for your help.

I still think you did not use Windows Media Player in 32-bit mode.
When you launch it - check the Task manager and see if this process is
marked with " * 32 " at the end . Then use this running 32-bit
instance of WMP to open the avi file. Do not double click on signpost
avi - as it may launch something else instead. AFAIK, it takes effort
to switch between 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Media Player. There is no
64-bit video/sound drivers for DMFS yet. It may explain why you could
hear sound only in PCM as it does not require DMFS driver and uses
default windows driver for audio. You could utilize DMFS with 32-bit
video players or encoders only, until 64-drivers for DMFS are
available.

Hello VictorT :

in fact i was already testing with WMP 32 bits ( launched directly
the wmplayer.exe file from \Program Files (x86)\ )
i just checked in the task manager and it has the "*32" displayed.

that's very strange because in the video you made it's working using
Vegas x64 :-\

Hello,

I'm working on Window 7 32b, Sony Vegas Pro 10 32b and the Frame
server in the 2.10 version.
I don't use to read directly (with Mediaplayer classic for example)
the file served by Vegas. I did a test, the result is that I only ear
the sound; no video.
But when the encoder (StaxRip) take the file there's no problem
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2_qrsuHx4Q).
I think there a problem of codec.

See you soon...

Ok, i've done some researches.

My problem seems to be solved now, it was caused by a mistake in the
Vegas project properties : the pixel format !
It has to be set on 8bit (mine was 32 bit).

It gave me a big headache, but now i can frameserve my project and
encode it in Megui (still, no video in media player, but it's Ok in
the encoder) :-)

[ maybe Satish could put a note about that to avoid this kind of
problems for future users ? or maybe it's me who is too stupid :-) ]

Anyway, thanks again for your replies, and a big thank you to the
author !
