Hello,

My name is Cory Friedman, and I'm interested in buying multiple photo-
sets that show various face painting designs being applied to
children, in a step-by-step manner, so people can see how each design
is put together, from start to finish.

I am looking to buy a large number of these sets, and will compensate
you more than fairly if you're interested.

Please let me know by replying to this email.

Additionally, you may contact me at: 973-543-0670

Thanks,
Cory Friedman

Unfortunately these days, you can't go by the area
code. With Vonage being the big thing, you can take
your phone number with you where ever you go. OR get
one in an area code that is convenient for your
family, or business. Since all the calls route through
the cable, the area code doesn't have to match. Also
with Cell phones, you can get one with an area code
that is a local number for your family. You just can't
tell WHERE people are from.
Hooray for progress.

Let's be sure to alert other face & body art forums.

I'm sure ours isn't the first to be contacted in this manner.

This is a longish 'Heads Up' to both warn and clarify things:

'Info products' as they are known, are commonplace all over the internet.
They are the online equivalent to magazines and books and range from rubbish to unmissable. They are a huge part of the work I do and frankly I could not operate the same without them!

I cannot see why the author who made the original request is being labelled a scam artist. Some expressed concern about his approach. It's not strange at all, simply an author / editor researching pictures and content for an idea. That's how publishing works in any medium.

There are many reasons why HE would want to do this:

Yes sure the information exists on sites and all over the internet ..... but people cannot, do not, may not find it. That's true of everything, isn't it, but people still buy papers, magazines and books. Some people don't always like searching, opting instead to purchase a seemingly ready made product that provides all they need and more.

In addition, it may be noted that searches for popular face painting terms produce around two and a half million sites! In February alone, 'face painting' was searched for on Yahoo over 9000 times. Almost 3000 of these were for 'face painting designs and ideas'.

This suggests that there is a sufficiently big market to produce some eBooks of Face Painting ideas. Whilst many of these searches would be for free resources, even if just 5% were interested, that could be 150 x $19.97 (for an eBook) in February alone! What's even 2% across the year?

That's how it works. Find a hungry market and feed it.

These marketers are not into stealing ... merely utilising existing resources and leveraging them for fullest advantage. He's spotted a gap in a market and sees it as a financially rewarding opportunity that's probably very easy to put together. And I believe he's right. I long wondered why some of you don't do this for yourselves ..... more on that later.

Getting it to the market is also easy, really easy. The costs of publishing once prevented people doing this themselves, but with the digital revolution it's almost free. And once you know about using SE Optimization, PayPerClick and Squeeze pages it'll just take a simple one page website and delivery automation. That's why he's looking for material probably in hundreds of different niche markets. It's a lucrative business and once you have the model, it can be repeated ad infinitum.

He won't be looking for original info. He's looking to supply info the searchers want. Once he has sufficient photographs he may approach a face painter to write it for him (at the usual low going rate) or go somewhere like www.elance.com and put it up for bids. This is where info product producers get all kind of stuff written by so called experts.

Finally for this bit:

What would he then do with the book?
He'd offer it for sale to the market searching for Face Painting ideas and related 'keywords'. A knowledge of how to 'manipulate' the Search Engine results will mean that this producdt would start ranking high in the indexing. Assuming that the book had been created by purchasing full publication rights to the photographs and copy, he'd have carte blanche with the final product. The usual procedure is that he would embed it with links to his own websites and other (perhaps related) material so that owners of it clisked and perhaps purchased more. Without going into detail here, he may offer it with or without various rights at different stages (Resell Rights, Master resell Rights, Private Label Rights, Rebrandable etc etc) and later even to be freely given away. All this would benefit because of the links embeded within.

So .... this is how it works.

Why you probably should not be associated

If your pictures are purchased, he would so and you'll have no say in the final use.
Who knows what the instructions would actrually say. Would they be accompanied by appropriate text on the right paint or safety issues? Skin complaints, coffee water, sterilization .... probably not. And if you managed to get a credit, you'd be linked to this.

IF you have material suitable for such publications ... retain control and do your own. I'm amazed that there isn't a production line already in place getting this material out there. There is a massive market and there isn't a cheaper or better way to deliver information. There are SO many ways that having some digital product can benefit you and they all lead to establishing your expertize, elevating your profile and this would reflect on the enquiries and bookings you get. Being an author and established published painter attracts both the media and the public as well as event organisers.

If anyone is interested in how to achieve this .... you know where to find me. If you think that you'd like to but are concerned that you haven't enough material .... I have dozens of ideas as to how perhaps a small team could jointly contribute .... perhaps from different areas of the country (or world) so that as a joint project, the resulting work benefits wouldn't intrude on anyone's work patch.

If you are interested in selling pictures to that guy .... and want some help talking to him so that you can get the best terms, I'm happy to help in any way too.

Sorry for the length .... but I couldn't read any more without giving you this heads up.
