What platform are you on?

Try just saving the torrent file to your desktop.

FoxTorrent should automatically detect when you save the torrent
file.
Have you got foxtorrent installed? What version? What version of
firefox?
Is redswoosh.exe running in your task manager process list?

I am behind our corporate firewall.. Will this create any problem?..

I get the same error!

Win XP SP2 + Firefox 2.0.0.3 + Foxtorrent 1.11

I have install/uninstall/reinstall many time but the same error.
in tools/option/content under the file type management, the type
'.TORRENT' is associated with nothing. And it is not possible to link
it with Foxtorrent plugin.

Please help! (and sorry for my english ))

It shouldn't create the problem of FoxTorrent not detecting the
torrent files save, and shouldn't create the problem of "lost
connection to redswoosh client", but might cause other problems.

The first step is to get FoxTorrent detecting when you save torrent
files. Type about:config into your address bar and turn on
Javascript.options.ShowInConsole to true. Then open the error console,
clear it, and then click on a torrent link on a webpage. Save it, and
see if any errors get logged in the console.

You should be able to register that with C:\Program Files\RSSoft
\FoxTorrent.exe. Or just save them to disk and FoxTorrent will detect
them!

Tom,

Following is the error in the console:

Error: redeclaration of const FOXTORRENT_GUID
Source File: chrome://foxtorrent/content/foxtorrent.js
Line: 4

There is no FoxTorrent.exe under "C:\Program Files\RSSoft" directory. I
can only see RedSwoosh.exe and RedSwoosh uninstall executable...

Thanks. Strange. That error is harmless.. it shouldn't be causing
foxtorrent to not be able to detect torrents. So you right click on a
torrent file (e.g. on a CD on the www.foxtorrent.com/exampledownloads
page ) and click save as, save somewhere, and the foxtorrent UI
doesn't appear?

On that other issue, it looks like the firewall is causing the exe not
to be able to connect to the internet properly. We plan on having on
having proxy support for FoxTorrent sometime. What sort of corporate
firewall do you have? You have to configure IE to use a proxy?

1- I tried to click on a torrent (on the foxtorrent postinstall
webpage):
* get message "c:\xyz.torrent could not be opened, because the

associated helper application does not exist. Change the
association
in your preferences".
* Nothing in the error console

2- I tried to download the torrent with flashgot:
* The foxtorrent UI doesn't appear
* Download is OK!
* Nothing in the error console

3- In my "C:\Program Files\RSSoft" directory:
* RedSwoosh.exe
* Uninstall.exe

4- I use the Windows Firewall

5- I have to configure the browser (IE, Firefox) to use a proxy:
* a corporate ISA server HTTP proxy

I hope this will help you help us ;-).

Thank you for your help.

Ah yes, it is the proxy unfortunately. FoxTorrent doesn't support proxies. That's the next big feature to come.

Thanks for the feedback,
Tom.

Is there any other plug-in/add-on to download torrents from firefox in
these kind of situations?..

Thanks,

None that we know of that is usable. Try AllPeers, but that's not focused on being a torrent downloader and I'm not sure if it will do what you're looking for.
