Upcoming release of a venues statistics API & changes to the /venues/herenow endpoint

A heads up that we've been working on a Venue Stats API and expect to
make it available by the end of this summer. This set of API endpoint
will allow verified venue owners to authorize applications to access
the same statistics we make available to merchants via their venue
dashboard, such as top 10 users, most recent check-ins, historical
check-in distribution, etc. It should be pretty awesome.
When this API is publicly released, we will be introducing additional
rate limits to the existing /venues/herenow/ endpoint. Our vision for
the herenow endpoint was to let users see who else was around while
out and about -- we still think this is a valuable part of the
product, but over the last few months we've seen a sharp increase in
applications targeting this endpoint for other uses. We will start
limiting authenticated herenow access to 30 requests/hour soon after
the Venue Stats API is available. Userless access, which only returns
user counts, will not be affected.
