Last week I received four postcards. I didn't know who
mailed them, but thought it must have been one of my
friends, most of whom are artists, some of which
I've collaborated with on mail art projects. But
I didn't recognize the style. I was perplexed ,
but pleasantly surprised by the mysterious cards.
I was just looking at the Hawai'i needs your aloha
card and noticed foundfutures.com in mouse sized
type, so here I am. Thank you for sending the cards.
This state is in trouble, deep trouble that
will become more apparent as we move into and
shape the future. I am pessimistic about it, but
wish that I could see a more optimistic horizon
for all of us. I feel like we are being strangled
by the corporations and families that own so
much of this "paradise." It ifeels like our lives
are being determined by a complex algorithm
of greed that has been calculated to get every
penny out of us that it can. It hurts.
I have lost all faith in our legislators after
this last session. Most of them are worthless when
it comes to protecting our islands. We need a
revolution, and they are not going to lead it-
we must.
Since we are so dependent on food and products
from the mainland, we are already facing the threat
of starvation if some major interruption such as
a devastating hurricane hits us. We can't feed
ourselves, much less the throngs of tourists
that drive this economy.
We' will certainly be a leading vector for disease
once H1N5 or some other viral strain takes hold;
it is just a matter of time.
I have to go now, but will return.
Mahalo for your thought-provoking cards.

Reading the letter below I think "Hey, they could be writing about
Tasmania! With all the current political corruption here also being
driven by greed and corporate lawlessness! With government, corporate
giantsand family empires wanting to build Australias biggest pulp mill
2kms away from my organic farm. To pump dioxin laden shit into the
sea (64 000tonnes a day to be more precise); and loads of toxic crap
into the air for us and the eagles to breathe. Despite the populace
saying they don't want it, and countless endangered species being
threatened, the big boys say they're ganna do it no matter what. And
along with that they'll take whats left of our forests as well, in a
"legal" terrorism on the environment and a total erosion to our
democracy.
Why is it that just about everywhere across this globe there are
arseholes in power (mostly men)? Why are so many of those men
seemingly hell bent on destruction of the planet?
I too become pessimistic at times, and wonder about this revolution
that you speak of
what is it going to take
for us humans to make a change?
and lets not lose our sense of humour in the wreckage:
2 planets were spinning thru the universe. As they come closer one
calls out "How're you goin?"
The other replies, "OK. How're you?"
"Oh, I'm real bad, I've got homo sapiens!"
"Don't worry, You'll get over it..."
