hi guys,

last week I downloaded Lenny Beta2 DVD and installed on my Toshiba Satellite M40 (with 512M Ram ,ATI x700).Kernel I am using is 2.6.24-1-686.
But, most of the time, system got entirely stucked ,..even Caps,Nums locks did not respond.
I tried switching gnome<>KDe but no use. Then I used 'radeon' driver instead of 'fglrx' driver...no help! System kept on freezing , infact i cannt remeber a time that i properly shutdown the machine.
So ,yesterday I did a dist-upgrade (using deb http://ftp.debian.org testing main non-free contrib ) and thought it would solve the problem..Again no help...
What could be the wrong?Any Toshiba user who encountered the same probme ??
Earlier with Etch this never happened , but i had installed Omnibook module in it...
Can this due to overheating or improper functioning of fans...etc !!! I mean, without any modules like Omnibook ,temperature control..ACPI...etc shoud work rit?

Any advises ,I am really upset cuz i thought i'd be able have a great time with Lenny :)

Regards
Umanga

hmm well i don't know why its not working when you set it to work in the GUI but you can always add that command to your /etc/rc.local or /etc/rc.S/rc.local or something file. so it will run each time your system boots up.

did you try changing the video player you are using? or the output module of the video player? there might be a bug in that sometimes who knows :) and try using the vesa driver too. vesa is the minimal thing ASFAIK.

Hi yasith,

I was not specific rit ;) System boot fine..and working smoothly till it get TOTAL freez! Im not quite sure but I guess it happen most of the time I watch videos , thats why i changes the video driver from "flgrx" to "radeon"...
And another thing ,  in gnome->administration>services I accidently  disables "dbus" service. Now even I enabled it there..These avahi,hal..etc services not get executed..So every time I boot the system I hvae to run "sh /etc/init.d/dbus restart" as root. Then only I see my battery, network mounted drive status...
Any fix to this too ? :(

Thanks in advance

Hi ashika, when is your system crashing? i had some problems with pcmcia and linux in my m45... if its the same thing then it should crash in the booting process.
