Hi,

The event announcement for FOSSMeet 2013 was done a few days earlier. The work for the event is underway, and a few changes have been made to the site. http://fossmeet.in. Call for speakers in now open.

An idea arose in one of the discussions to have a talk regarding startups using free software, and how to make money being part of the community. Any suggestions regarding having such a talk during FOSSMeet? Please share your ideas on this

Regards,
Shamil

Somebody from Profoundis http://www.profoundis.com/ might be a good idea. One of the co-founders Anoop Thomas Mathew (@atmb4u) was one of the speakers (Python Workshop) along with late Kenneth "lawgon" Gonsalves.

Also try contacting Plivo.com. They are doing great stuff with Python. You may contact Nishad or Venky over there.

And Red Hat (I'm not going to talk, but I can try to get some speakers).

Profoundis , Plivo and Zyxware seems to be  good options, wiil try to get in contact with them. Its good to encourage startups which use and believe in FOSS.

Praveen, speakers from Redhat would be great. Can you suggest some other interesting topics, and get some speakers? We can ask the speakers team to contact them regarding travel, accommodation etc, if they are interested.

Regards,
Shamil

It would be great if you get some kernel hackers from RedHat. Maybe you can have a Kernel Hacking 101.

I suggest Suparna Bhattacharya http://researcher.watson.ibm.com/researcher/view.php?person=in-bsuparna - she is a world renowned kernel hacker. Had met her at IISc, where she is doing PhD, she had shown interest in visiting our campus sometime.

We can also try to get someone from IBM Linux Technology Center (two persons visited us during Tathva for Virtual Tux contest).

Apart from Suparna, you should try get hold of someone like us who are new into Kernel Development. If you can get Srivatsa it would be great. He graduated from NITK in 2011 and is part of IBM LTC.

He should be able to help students how to kick start contribution to Kernel. He should be able to give his story. How it started and his experiences. It would be easy for students to relate his experiences to themselves.

He had given session at FOSS.in this time. http://foss.in/profiles/srivatsa-s-bhat

Forgot to mention about Sunil Pai (https://twitter.com/threepointone). In case you are looking for a speaker on Web Dev. domain, he is the guy you should get. If you have been attending HasGeek events, you should be already knowing him. He is basically a UI guy and has worked for startups and Yahoo!. Plus, he is an awesome speaker and keeps the audience entertained.
