The FOSS Nepal Community successfully deployed NepaLinux LTSP in on of
the remote school of the Sindhupalanchowk. The project is financially
supported by the Save the children, Norway, and co-ordinated by the
Help Nepal Network and the technical support for NepaLinux is provided
by Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya.
A team of three people me, Subir sir and Prabin were on the trip. The
trip was quite adventures and memorable. The teachers and students
exhilaration on having computers can't be explained in words. We had
9 LTSP clients, 1 server and 2 standalone system altogether 12
machines. The localized educational softwares such gcompris, tuxtype
and the content provided by the Help Nepal Network were really
useful.
Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya has deployed NepaLinux LTSP in 3 of the
schools Dailekh, Dhading and Phulchowki. In near future MPP is
deploying NepaLinux LTSP in huge scale (16 govt. schools) of Nepal
with the financial support from NTA.Similarly Help Nepal Network under
the eLibrary Project deployed LTSP in 4 sites, 3 of the schools in
Sindhupalchowk, Dang and Bhaktapur (Sudal) and one in Teacher's
training Center, Dhulikhel. Soon Help Nepal Network is having another
LTSP deployment in Morang.
A big thanks to save the children,Help Nepal Network and Roshendra
Dai, for providing an opportunity to have NepaLinux in the project.
Also the thanks goes to MPP, for making necessary arrangement to make
the visit official.
Really, LTSP deployment being done by MPP and Help Nepal Nepal Network
is praise worthy. Lets generate and gather support for their future
project.
Lets have a one LTSP project per school and then bind them all in one
network. Lets make this dream a reality.
we will share, a detail report about the project and others
interesting photos after few days.
