Seeking expert guidance for setting up local GIT repository

Hi People,

I need to setup a local git repository in a very professorial manner
considering:

1. Security
2. Performance
3. The best approach (bare/regular) "seriously I had no time for reading
long pages"

I am looking forward to some expert comments (and detailed setup
instructions) from all the GIT enthusiasts, so that I can get on to the

Hello,

I am Srijan, currently in 3rd Year Comp Sc. After the IIT status somethings
have changed like we have 90% attendance rule being enforced strictly
now(...:P), Gymkhana is being reframed with power shifting to students and
the prof incharge is quite student friendly. New clubs are now being formed

Interesting to see an active FOSS community at IIT BHU. I am not a student
at IIT BHU but my hometown is Varanasi. It would be amazing to get involved
with the BHU community when I am around at home. Will be happy to see this

I've renamed our group to FOSS@IIT-BHU, while the ML and URL remains the
same. How's the campus after an official IIT status?
Keep us posted on any workshops, interesting on campus activities.

Most probably it should be in home folder,btw in ny case just run
cd ~ && gedit .hgrc
and configure it as per ur req....

Mercurial Configuration

I have installed mercurial on my ubuntu 12.04 using apt.
I am not getting how to configure it .
read that the credentials should be entered in a ".hgrc" file.
I couldn't find any .hgrc file... :(
should we create the file and do something ???.......
any help would be appreciated

For VPN/Squid users,
The VPN and Squid Proxy services have been restored using a backup, and old
certificate and hence the clients should work fine. The server is reachable

We have a simple doc/sheet where what people have what type of access is
listed?
One such should be present with WMG head/internally.

Rahul also make sure he has no control over other Itbhu services (such as
email or other servers).
