Dan, my gmail was weird, sorry for that delay.

http://pastie.caboo.se/paste/ is where i see others code with the
'search' link in the upper right hand side.

the irc u should be on is rubyonrails...

The simplest way for me for IRC chat is to download chatzilla for
firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16
it will then be right there underneath the 'Tools' menu.

* then you select 'freenode'
* choose your username, then type this in the command:
/msg NickServ REGISTER your_new_passwrd

(something like that, it's right there in the instructions..)

and you then click the 'IRC' option on top. then 'join channel'
join 'rubyonrails'

then click 'open this channel at startup', the last option under IRC..

you may want to join 'ruby-lang', 'javascript', 'svn', and whatever
linux distro you're on also, and do the same -> 'open this channel at
startup'...

the bitchy thing about IRC is that you have to type:
/msg NickServ IDENTIFY your_password
everytime, i have this line on a sticky on my mac so i just copy and
paste it when i go on IRC...
