Welcome to ForgottenFiberglass.com. Our group and website is dedicated to sharing information regarding first and second generation fiberglass bodied sports cars from the '50s and early '60s.
Meteor, Glasspar, Lancer, Grantham, Victress, LaDawri, Byers, Devin, and others produced beautiful fiberglass bodies and cars. The fiberglass "Specials" built during this era of racing, hot rodding and cruising faded silently into obscurity as mass produced muscle cars quickly overshadowed them.
There are several links to explore at the top of the web page and these include:
1: HOME: This brings you to our main page where we showcase different magazine covers of various fiberglass cars of the era.
2: CARS: We cover more than just Ladawri cars here at our website. We cover fiberglass cars from the 1950’s and 1960’s (and soon some 1940’s too). We’re planning a big expansion in the Glasspar, Woodill, and Victress cars in the near future.
3: MYSTERY CARS: Although small now, this section will be expanding in the next few months to include more and different cars from some of our members - and beyond. We would love to have anyone submit photos of mystery fiberglass cars that we can post on our website. Just contact us at the e-mail addresses at the bottom of this letter. Similarly, if you know anything about one of these cars posted on this website….please let us know. Surely fun for all.
4: FORGOTTEN FIBERGLASS: Some of you may have visited www.forgottenfiberglass.com - which is also www.ladawri.com That is, both links lead to the same website. The “Forgotten Fiberglass” link talks about the book in progress scheduled to go to print in 2010. And….asks for any information you might have on the history of these cars to make the book the best reference out there on the history of fiberglass sports cars of the 1950’s and 1960’s.
5: ABOUT US: These are some of the major contributors to the website and discussion board.
6: BOOKS: This is a partial listing of books that may be of interest to those who are part of our group and enjoy fiberglass cars as much as we do.
7: DISCUSSION GROUP: This is a place that currently is in yahoo but soon moving to google. It’s a location where our members can discuss various topics related to any fiberglass car of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Topics covered include historical information, mystery cars, design information, restoration tips and just about anything you might have a question about (or want to share). Remember….there’s no such thing as a bad question - especially in our group of enthusiastic contributors.
8: MOTORAMA: This is a link that we are currently building. The fiberglass cars of the 1950’s were shown in the very famous but nearly forgotten “Petersen Motoramas” held from 1950-1955. More about this show will be available shortly on our website.
