Subject: Why isn't the directory FME_SERVER_DEST_DIR deleted when the zipfile has been created?

Hi,

Is there a reason for FME Server not deleting the FME_SERVER_DEST_DIR
directory as soon as the zip file has been created? Or did I miss some
settings somewhere?

We have a server with download services, and the translation result files
stays in the FME_WORKING_DIR together with the zip file until the
FME_RESULT_LIFETIME has expired. When the output files are compressed TIFF,
the zip compression doesn't do anything to the size of the TIFF files and
we just end up using twice the disk space.

Is there a way to configure FME Server to delete the FME_SERVER_DEST_DIR when
the compression is completed?

/mats

Hi Mats,

You could set the FME_PURGE_INTERVAL in the FME Engine configuration file
to a lower value. This specifies, in seconds, the automatic deletion
checking period. The FME Engine checks for files older than
FME_RESULT_LIFETIME and deletes any it finds.

You have a valid point that this should be triggered on completion of the
translation rather than at a time interval though.

I will create a support case and email you the enhancement request number.

Thanks,

Stewart
