Business
Committee for the Arts: THE BCA TEN
The mission of the Business Committee for the Arts (BCA), a
national nonprofit organization that brings business and the arts
together, is to ensure that the arts flourish in America by encouraging
businesses to support the arts in the workplace, in education, and in
the community. THE BCA TEN is a national list created by BCA to
recognize businesses of all sizes for their exceptional involvement
with the arts. The deadline for submitting nominations for THE BCA TEN

IMPACT:
National Student Conference on Service, Advocacy & Social Action is
the largest convening in the United States of campus community members
involved in service, activism, politics, advocacy, and other socially
responsible work. The annual conference provides a platform for college
students to set, engage in, and lead a national agenda for social
change. This event is a chance for students to build on one another's
work, for campus administrators to learn more about how to support
students at their schools, and for nonprofit professionals to give
students clear entry points for how to get involved with their work.

Political Gathering for City Officials
National League of Cities: 2008 Congressional City
Conference
The National League of Cities 2008 Congressional City Conference,
“Lobbying for America’s Cities,” will gather local
elected officials
and city staff from throughout the United States. Participants will
have the opportunity to learn about federal issues that are important
to America’s cities and towns, to lobby Congress on short-term issues
that will be on the Congressional agenda in 2008, and to make sure
cities and towns have a unified voice in the national campaign. The
conference will provide a range of education, networking, and strategy
sessions to maximize the value of this event for city
officials. The conference will be held March 8-12, 2008, in Washington,

Funds for Human Rights Issues Worldwide
Morton and Jane Blaustein FoundationThe
goal of the Morton and Jane Blaustein Foundation’s Human Rights
program
is to advance fundamental human rights both in the United States and
abroad. Areas of interest include: international human rights advocacy
concerning health and mental health, conflict management strategies
that encourage dialogue and diplomatic solutions to complex
international political problems, and legal strategies to ensure fair
treatment of immigrants and asylum seekers in the United States. The
Foundation will also consider, on an emergency basis and in
collaboration with others, time-limited projects that respond to urgent
humanitarian and human rights crises created by natural disasters,
civil strife, or war. Letters of intent are accepted throughout the

Staples Foundation
for LearningThe
mission of the Staples Foundation for Learning is to teach, train, and
inspire people from all walks of life by providing educational and
growth opportunities. The Foundation supports programs that provide job
skills and/or education for all people, with special emphasis on
disadvantaged youth. The goal of the Foundation’s grant program is to
help local groups with programs and services that will positively
impact their communities every day. Nonprofit organizations throughout
the United States, with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii, that
address the Foundation’s mission are eligible to apply. For the first
two funding cycles in 2008, proposals must be submitted between
February 29 and March 14 and between June 2 and June 16. Visit the

Castle Rock
Foundation
The mission of the Castle Rock Foundation is to promote a better
understanding of the free enterprise system, help ensure a limited role
for government and the protection of individual rights as provided for
in the Constitution, encourage personal responsibility and leadership,
and uphold traditional American values. The Foundation provides general
operating support and special project grants to nonprofit organizations
throughout the United States whose goals and purposes address the
mission of the Foundation. Applications must be submitted by March 15,

K-12 Math and Science Programs Funded
Motorola Foundation: Innovation Generation Grants
In 2008, the Motorola Foundation will provide $4 million in Innovation
Generation Grants to organizations that engage K-12 students and
teachers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Funding
priority will be placed on pioneering programs that teach innovative
problem-solving skills, that focus on girls and underrepresented
minorities, and that are less than two years old. Any U.S. nonprofit
organization may apply; however, priority will be given to programs
that operate in communities where Motorola employees are located in
Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York,
Pennsylvania, and Texas. The application deadline is March 1, 2008.

Support for Contemporary Dance
Performances
National Dance Project Grant Programs
The National Dance Project (NDP) encourages the discipline of
contemporary dance by supporting the production and distribution of
dance throughout the United States. Through the efforts of dance
presenters across the country, NDP helps audiences connect with the
rich and varied talents of choreographers and their companies. NDP
Production Grants provide funding for the creation of new dance work
that will tour nationally. Applications are due April 1, 2008. NDP
Touring Grants support the distribution and presentation of NDP-funded
projects as well as projects selected to receive NDP Tour Only Support.

U.S. Bancorp Foundation
The U.S. Bancorp Foundation seeks to build strong partnerships in
communities with a U.S. Bank office by supporting nonprofit
organizations that improve the educational and economic opportunities
of low- and moderate-income individuals and families. Support is also
provided for programs that enhance the cultural and artistic life of
communities. Nonprofit organizations located in company communities in
Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana,
Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada,
North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Washington,
Wisconsin, and Wyoming are eligible to apply. Application deadlines
