Subject: Starting a new business in Florida - Step by Step
Hello. Sorry, but I have so many questions. I have already set up the
Ficticious Name with the state. I want to set up the LLC with the
state to "hold" the business name, but I am not sure which form to
use, or if I can do this on-line also. I am also not sure what other
forms are necessary in Florida to make the LLC "legal". Do I need an
EIN? I have read everything on floridasmallbusiness.com, but I am
still a bit confused.

For more details on LLCs, check with the Florida Department of State,
Division of Corporations. Here is the direct number for quesions on
LLCs - 850-245-6051.

There is a form for organizing an LLC online. (It does not ask for an
EIN.) Here is the link:

https://efile.sunbiz.org/llc_file.html

Also, on the FloridaSmallBusiness.com site there is a section called
"dba Florida" with information directly from the Division of
Corporations. Perhaps you have already read this, but if not, here is
the link:

If you still have questions on LLCs after you talk with the Division
of Corporations, I would suggest meeting a counselor at one of the
Florida Small Business Development Centers around the state. (They are
non-profit centers sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Adminstration
and Florida universities and they offer free or inexpensive classes
and one-on-one counseling.)

I hope this helps. Good luck.
