Flex is awesome because it gives the freedom, the tools, the methods,
the platform using which one can create their dream products. A dream
product that looks just like the same as we imagined, an UI framework
which helps to make our dream product to a real product. So that this
world can use that product, enjoy that product, do fruitful work and
if one get their dream product in real, they will be able to use it,
then they will definitely love it. That why we love Flex so much. Its
not easy to live without the thing you love most. ;)

I have worked with PHP, .NET, Java and other web technologies. I can
say there are many many reasons for the awesome behavior of Flex. But
few of them are like:
i. Normally, if we want to create one web application, then we need
lot of technologies only for client side just like HTML, DHTML,
javascript, ajax, flash (to show banners like things), Photoshop (for
template slicing). And also you need Flex itself for small application
part in that web application. And you are getting all these things in
Flex.
ii. You can easily integrate flex app. with any other server side
technologies to get all features from other serverside technologies.
Even with Javascript.
iii. Flex has built-in effects and skinning facilities by which you
can give your application an excellent look-n-feel.
iv. Flex provides almote all controls from .NET and java etc.
I think all these things makes one technology Awesome.

Why is Flex the best damn UI framework?

Due to its built-in effects and skinning features. And above all there
is an excellent editor for Flex i.e., Flex Builder with Eclipse. With
all these things you can give your appliation whaterver look you want
to give.

Why do you love it so much? Why can't you live without it ?

Obviously, for a developer/programmer/software professional, Flex
provides enough things to work with. Specially for me, I can't think
web/desktop applications without Flex/AIR.

Hi All,

Flex is the best damn UI Framework, there are many reason for this.
Some of them i liked are listed below.

i) Binding Ability
We can bind variables, functionality with UI Components. Unlike our old javascript
and html style there is no necessity to manually update the UI Component whenever
changes happens in our variables.

ii) Running on Flash Player
Flash itself was one of the hottest from the beginning in web technology.Since it is
running on Flash Player and it inherits many of the flash behavior. For we developers
the job are easy now where before we always struggled to work in Flash.It changed the perspective now. Before you could have been either developer or designer. Now we
are designing developers.

iii) OS independent
This is one of the best part of Flex. When we develop a web application or desktop
application we can't force our users to choose his OS. Or it would be difficult to
develop our application in different technologies to reach different users. Thanks Adobe
for making this Flex running on Flash Player.

iv) Desktop Application
(Sorry im not blaming other technologies, but im talking about Flex AIR's advantage)
Think if u need to develop small desktop application. Which well know technology will u use
to do UI.
Windows dependent .Net?
or Very tough to work Java Swing/AWT?
or Flex AIR, which is OS Independent, easy to use builder, very good interactive UI.
I always liked flex for this reason.

v) Integratable with multiple lang and Secure Job :)
It could be integrated with php, Java, .Net which are top web technology. So choosing
Flex for career we will also be a best choice.
 
Best part of all is it's user group, where everyone are helpful to each other, share
their knowledge, help in somebody strangers problem. We all do these just because
we like Flex and we always want everyone to like the things we like.

There are still many if i have to mention, but it would be a essay if i write. Anyway Thanks,

Thanks to hordes of features (which have already been listed :D) it wouldn't be too much to add that Flex does so well at UI that you could make a movie "U, I aur Flex" and it would be a more convincing love story .. hehe

I couldn't stop thinking of my ex, so I added a "Fl" to it and now I've a new love :D

Oh come oooonnnnnn.......... "aweSOME" is an understatement.

And I am "delightSOME" that flex makes every damn "eyeSOME" UI (which
appears to be "fearSOME" to implement) look so "cuddleSOME". With
Flex, UI development becomes so "gameSOME" that every "cumberSOME" job
becomes "lightSOME". It can transform a grueSOME site to a gleeSOME
playground.

It's a doleSOME thought to restrict Flex to just "aweSOME". There are
some nettleSOME elements who have their irkSOME reasons to think they
can out-perform Flex with their "mettleSOME" tools. Well aren't you
folks "tireSOME". Well all I have to say is -

If you want SOME... you can settle with aweSOME
But if you want wholeSOME... then go and FlexSOME.



PS:
1. All words with "SOME" in it are valid english words :)
2. And yeah, I had a "toilSOME" time searching for them :D

My love has no cost and no one has any right to put my love on sale or
try to impress the organisers with the features of why you love. If
you are in true love than do dont have any reason to love, and love
without any reason is long lasting and faithfull.:):). All you can
share is the story when you fell down with Flex.

When i met my love(Flex) for the first time, i had a feel like here we
have another flashy chick(HTML, JAVA, .NET) in our college, and
presume a same kind of behaviour like usually our college chick have
such as dont want to go with IE or FireFox or Mac, which always makes
me feel insecure that someone will come and access in my private life
(My local Files) so easily and disturb my privacy.

One day my HeadMaster(Project Manager) ask me to interact with this
new chick(Flex), i had lot of if and but, what to do this is top call
i had to do it, got the contact number(Link to Flex builder download)
and started interacting with her. Then the first thing i found wow she
is so traditional( running on Flash Player) and the question of my
insecurity and privacy(my local file system) vanished in a moment,
though she had some similarities with others(Eclipse Workbench) but
those were the good one.
Such a sophisticated one, having no problem to interact with various
other chicks(JAVA , J2EE and Flex interaction), all it need a mode of
communication(WEB Services) and yes it is also capable to decorate
(Flex Skinning) by itself and also with the help of her close cousin
(Flash swf files).

And i need not to tell FLEX again and again to update me for any
change she wants, her binding(Dynamic Binding) nature are so strong
that she automatically update herself according to the changes.

I found it suffiecient to fell for someone and now its more than 2.5
years since we are together and as the days goes on i find her(Flex)
more and more intersting and wants to get lost in her world.

Here are the few reasons why I LOVE FLEX (even more than I love my boyfriend)

 

1) It allows me to act like a cosmetic surgeon. I can take an existing ColdFusion app and give it a brand new face. I can take that same face and glue it as a frontend to the Java app. Requires some amount of tweaking. But Flex allows me to sculpt different faces. I dont get paid like a cosmetic surgeon does though !

 

2) When I was an infant I worked on JSP's. I graduated towards Struts and then JSF. Then I evolved finally when I was touched by Flex. The lines of code that I had to write in JSF/JSP to get the same work done were double. Plus they did not have the cool widgets that Flex has.

 

3) Flex builder changed my life. Now I shuttle between the role of a developer and a designer. It gives me a whole new perspective about the web-world. The thin line between the design and the development world has been crossed !

I can accomplish my development efforts in half as much time. I was sick of writing code manually in JSP's and JSF's ! In Flex I just need to drag and drop and my wireframe gets built. After that I just need to do some fine-tuning and integrate my services to hit the DB.

 

4) I can use several simple and easy-to-configure frameworks with Flex like Mate, Swiz. Seriously, who needs complicated components like Struts and Spring in the java world when you have Flex. Flex acts as a single parent. We dont need a nanny. Thankyou.

 

5) And last but not the least, I get to talk to cool people like yourself in this cool forum :)

to do that even my sister who is doing B Com having some knowledge of
Computer can design her own RIA in ease.

Till now Flex is the best UI framework
i have ever seen not because i am saying it to win the prize i totally
mean it :). Its Super User Friendly Interface Helps the Beginner user
to focus on their creative work rather than remaining the lengthy
syntax as i was doing for HTML and CSS :( it was nightmare to give
professional effect. But Flex changes it every thing. With a few click
whaaallaa we get the professional look and feel of the RIA and to be
frank i have hardly visited the Source section as because Flex Have
provided so much features in Design Mode we barely have to go to
source code and work on it.

I can't explain how much i love
because it cannot be expressed we can feel it and i am felling it i
work hours and hours and sometimes forget to eat :) as i am so much
into it.

wow why cant i live without flex is the
hard one its like asking steve jobs why he likes apple and is so
dedicated to it. Because It bring out germs of a person creative mind
and implement that in a user friendly and secure and in elegant manner

I have fallen in love since i have
attended the Adobe Boot Camp held in MIT from that time i am trying to
learn all the new features and i am improving day by day.... :)


The Thing Is If I start speaking about
the Flex i think that it will go on and on and on as becuz i love it
so much not only me millions of people are in love with Flex :).....

Flex gives you lot of Flexibility in designing the Flash platform applications.In my opinion Flash has always been a great tool to build web based applications, but to develop high performance RIA's we never had the base work flow (still community had always been able to come up with mind blowing applications). Flex provided the framework to speed up the development process in easy to understand and easy to use language (MXML is a winner). so we love it so much
I can't live without Flash, and Flex provides the means to develop for Flash platform, so I can't live without Flex :)
We know what we faced when developing with Flash to develop components and integrate them in large applications, and Flex framework provides sooooo easy ways to achieve the same. So we KNOW Flex the best damn UI framework.

FLEX stands for

F - Flexible
L - Learn
E - Easy
X - XML


Flex Is the best UI through which we can easily learn and design an
flexible, stable and compressed(i.e the compression of size is
greater). application without goggling any syntax.

Most of the part it contains working with xml file i.e static and
dynamic file...Thats why i said X for XML before using flex i was not
know what information was stored in xml now i know thanks to flex.

Why is Flex so awesome ? 

1) the main reason flex is awesome is it's easiness of use in creating great rich internet application
2) secondly it's awesome because of the platform in dependency,,, i can code with out having to worry about the browsers and operating.Java script developer don't have that previlage
3) for back end i have wide range of choice php,java ..c#  etc and etc
4)  we have wide range of resource over internet in case of any problem
5) and most important thing is flash player is readily available almost in any machines around the world

Personally I think it is an awesome framework for the following
reasons.
(1) Very simple to learn and get started. I have seen new folks in the
team get productive in less than a week.
(2) I can focus on implementing the business logic instead of trying
to debug in different kinds of browsers and browser versions.
(3) Vibrant community and discussion forums to seek help and get
samples.
(4) Extensibility.
(5) You don't need to poke your nose too much into the framework to
build a complete application. Default controls/classes sufficient for
most applications.
(6) Another cool thing is skinning. Rather than an after thought,
skinning is considered from ground up. Nice.
