Hi Guys,

I am quite happy to share with you that I cleared my Flex 4 ACE exam
with 79% today morning.
I wished I scored a notch higher.

I feel for me it's not just clearing the exam, but getting better
acquainted with the technology that is important.

I took my own time in preparing for the exam objectives and I enjoyed
learning through this stuff and am quite fascinated by the range of
topics covered be it understanding the layout manager, skinning
architecture or air security or messaging, data management and in
fact everything and the amount of thought that has gone through
designing and architechting Flex.

As for the exam:
The pattern of questions were single choice, multi-choice mentioning
number of correct answers to choose, multi-choice without mentioning
the number of correct answers to choose.

Some of the questions were quite tricky and thought provoking.
The sad part is despite the challenge, of these one or two questions
have no proper answer from the choices provided (I bet they have no
answer) and some in an attempt to frame tricky questions by Adobe, one
or two questions were ambiguous in the question itself, and even if
you know either way of answering the question, you end up unable to
choose an answer for the question is not clear.

There were few surprise questions regarding Model driven development,
invoking native process(AIR), native installer(AIR), LCDS stuff
(unrelated to synchronization or paging) which are not part of 'Topic
Areas and Objectives' of the exam.

Do you use Attest both 2 and 3 in practicing for the exam for they
give an idea and prepare you to cover the range of topics, varieties
the questions that can popup.

In Attest 3, I found the links for preparing exam objectives are not
very handy and sometimes comprehensive too.

I will update this thread for my blog link, where I will be posting
documentation references and links objective wise as per what I could
make out at the minimum. Frankly, this took me some time to figure out
where to find what to cover all topics, objectives of the exam. For
Livedocs for Flex is I feel quite huge and comprehensive, and you
cannot afford to read through each and everything of it.

So that is all what I can think of to share with you all presently.

Bye,

Ram Manoj Kongara.

Ram Thank you for sharing your experience, and congratulations! on the achievement.

Guess flex 4 is pretty popular in terms of certification, guys do let us know if you get certified, it would be great to share our experiences with each other on the list, we can also start a separate thread just about flex 4 certification.

Saurabh

References for following objectives are pending.
• Explain the importance of and implement data paging on data sets.
• Understand synchronization and online/offline use cases using data

I share the same sentiment with Kiran!!

On the open sections in the document -

- you can add this reference point also for data paging

- for asynchronous and synchronous database operations

- for offline data storage and caching, you can mention these pointers

Thank you.

Thanks Kiran and Saurabh for your inputs.

I updated the document with the new references to Google Docs shared
folder as link gets changed each time document is uploaded without
replacing existing one.

You can access the shared folder here.
