Is there a way to verify that all words used in publishable vernacular
fields (e.g. examples sentences, vernacular definitions) have entries
in the dictionary?
I don't think there's an official way to do it, but in a carefully
controlled context (below), maybe the spell checker could be used for
this. I've not tested this yet, though. What you y'all think? Any
gotchas, or other ideas for doing this?
Okay, by the "right context", I mean that you
- first make sure all spellings of all words currently in the Text &
Words wordform inventory are correct
- first check the spelling of all the headwords
- find a way to dump out all headwords and then paste them into a
"text"; this gets them into the wordform inventory
- use bulk edit to approve the spellings of ALL wordforms
- now you can use spell-checking to find words that need to be added
as entries into the dictionary
Of course, if you add texts, their words get added into the inventory
too, and words that ought to get added to the lexicon will need get
added *before* their spellings are approved, and before doing another
dump 'n paste. If not, this approach would break down.
