Mr. Kates <br> Thanks to you and some other mariners, I have learned a great deal about my brother and his rescue after the sinking of the tug Menominee by the German U-boat 754 and subsequent rescue by the Northern Star. I am forever grateful. I have been able to talk with three members of the crew from the NS and particularly with one who participated in the actual rescue. I was able to get a death certificate from Dover DE that indicated that my brother lived about 7 hours after rescue and died aboard the NS. Can you help me get info from the actual logbook from the NS? There should be specific details regarding the rescue in there and possible some information as to what happened to the other four men that were on the lilferaft before the rescue. That is, if someone talked with the captain and the chief engineer from the tug..I have been in touch with family members of the tug captain but they only have limited info to share. No one seems to know who the chief engineer was so that avenue is left blank. I just feel like that logbook may share some light on areas that are vague. Can you guide me in the right direction? I would certainly appreciate it.
