Subject: RE: [NYCoders] Colin Holgate's Book on LiveCode
Many congratulations to Colin on his new LiveCode text.

I spent a few hours yesterday watching LiveCode videos and dabbling with the
LiveCode IDE.

LiveCode seems to do everything that I want and need... in an entirely new
way... except... I mainly want browser-based apps.

It appears that LiveCode can do browser-based apps... but this area is not
its' strong suit.

I put in a tech support blip with RunRev... inquiring about how to release
and host browser-based apps.

NY Coders is rather fortunate to have Colin as a regular...

There are two web/server related things that LiveCode can do. One is that you can script servers in the same way you might use PHP, only in a more English syntax. Here's an article someone wrote on it:

http://livecode.byu.edu/internet/revservercripting.php

The other is that there is a plugin. Here's a page of lessons on making what would be called "revlets", stacks that are meant to run in the browser plugin:

http://lessons.runrev.com/s/lessons/m/4071/c/16772

Now, I think that both of these are not the most important technology that RunRev are developing, and they may have falling behind the abilities of the main tool. So, it will be interesting to see what the reply is to your tech support email.
