Hi group!
I was reading about color detection and for now we can't do this with
FLARToolkit, or, maybe with the help from Andy Lu (http://
blog.onthewings.net/2009/05/23/flartoolkit-trick-use-a-colored-
marker/) you can do it something, but, look this:

http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_INT/Video/Beyond-the-ordinary-021242783512547?p=1242745957959

There is a full color detection, isn't it?
I was thinking and maybe we can hide the marker inside the image and
move or scale a video to cover the full image. However, in the RedBull
Magazine I can't see a black and white marker nowhere.

Any idea?
Thank you group :)

Red bull used another engine, not FLARToolkit. The detection called
'natural feature tracking'.

it's using Studierstube's flash tracker.
http://studierstube.icg.tu-graz.ac.at/handheld_ar/highspeed_nft.php

tried the demo here:
http://en.redbulletin.com/print2.0

it seems to be pretty solid.  it looks like it needs the red bull logo to begin tracking, but then can use the shape of the page to continue tracking even if the logo is off-screen.

however, once it loses the marker / page, it doesn't seem to be able to get it back without refreshing the page (restarting the app).

Sorry for this question, I know that the forum is about  FLARToolKit, but now I have curiosity about this project, I can't found information about how to use, in the blog that Eric shared I see just examples.

Maybe someone know how to start with this, I don't know if this is about Flash or VisualStudio.

Thank you group!

it's flash.  they also have a C++ version, but the red bull project is flash.
they don't make it clear how to get more information on the product, but i can tell you so far that it is not open source.  more as i learn more.  if anyone else here has more to share about it, i'm sure the folks on this list would love to hear about it.

This company : www.imagination.at converted the Studierstube tracker
(c++) with Alchemy to flash.

I don't know if the releasing it open source or licesing their Alchemy/
flash version.

they're licensing it.  it's quite expensive, about 4 times the cost of a FLARToolkit license.  it is not open source.  i don't know if they have plans to open source it.

i was told that it needs an image with good contrast and enough detail, about A5 or larger in size, for tracking.

hy guys,

I spoke with the peoples of imagination... really the license is very
expensive (to small companies), and they don't gonna (in any time)
open the source of the project :( ... the size of the marker is
A4... and they told me that sometimes the image work sometimes not :S

Im porting another library and join anothers concepts to new
EZFLAR2 ... it dont gonna need markers! \o/

Anyone wants to help?? Its gonna be fun!!

Best Regards!

which library?

hy Eric!

Im working on top of the work of Julien Pilet in your PHD tesis. The
primary code is called BazAR, but after he wrote his code he has a lot
of good ideas in another publications... another algorithms that i
think can work in flash too, with some massive optimization. I working
on that... this code is brilliant!

What do you think about to do this with me?? im not good with as3
hehehe and im in love with alchemy...
look this 300000 particles moving so smooth :)
http://www.unitzeroone.com/labs/alchemyPushingPixels/

I think this library have to be rebuild from scratch ... but i think i
gonna remain all the process code in C++ and i gonna try to expose
some simplified functions, like in the ezflar wrap to flarmanager.
What do you think?

Regards!

Has anyone seen this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJeshBBNK5Q

It also appears to be an example of (fiducial) markerless AR in Flash.
Any idea if it's the same library?

Hy Jim!

The library i mentioned didnt work in flash today... im working to
rewrite that, but he is huge, was projected to use openGL and have a
lot of dependencies like OpenCV (for computational image processing).
The only way to do that in flash today is to use the ported library of
another library (a paid version, like the one used in RED
magazine) ... but the price is huge too... so i think this is a
problem with this libraries, they put in opensource but they close the
professional use... real opensource dont close the commercial use! so
i gonna rewrite this library to release in another kind of license a
more open one....

Anyone wants to join my efford?

Thanks
