Subject: Flapjax on Android

Hello,

I'm a student computer science and my master thesis is about functional
reactive programming.
I did research about developing Android Apps using the frp paradigm. And
I've successfully used Flapjax to develop mobile web applications.

This blog post summarizes my observations: Flapjax on Android<http://nteirlin.tumblr.com/post/11313021412/thesis-flapjax-on-android...>
I also write an example program with Flapjax (BMI Calculator): BMI
Calculator Flapjax<http://nteirlin.tumblr.com/post/11314073889/flapjax-bmi-calculator>
(There is also a tutorial for installing the Flapjax compiler on Mac OS X<http://nteirlin.tumblr.com/post/11074557373/flapjax-installing-the-fl...>and for usingFlapjax in TextMate<http://nteirlin.tumblr.com/post/11119045831/textmate-run-flapjax>
)

I would just say that you're doing a great job and I really like the
approach of Flapjax (and frp in general).
Hope those post could help or convince some people to use Flapjax!

Howdy,

This is awesome! You're absolutely right about mobile device events; Flapjax
should support them better. Since extractEventE is a thin wrapper around
addEventListener, Flapjax "works" but could do better. Unfortunately, I
haven't yet had the time to dive deeply into mobile Web development. If
you've got suggestions or patches for Flapjax, they're most welcome.

Arjun

Well I had to work with Flapjax in a research context for my thesis. I
needed to check what frp language could eventually run on Android. And
Flapjax turned out to "work". But don't know if I will have time to really
extend it. It's not the goal of my thesis and well I know I will have a lot
of work this year already! But if I can give suggestion, someone could try
to focus on the different event sources on Android. Because mobile
applications have a great interaction with environment (gps, ...) and users
(touch screen, accelerometer,..). And if we could represent those event the
same way has mouse events in Flapjax this would greatly help mobile web
development with Android.
