The just published State of the World's Mothers report notes that a woman in the United States is more than "7 times as likely as a woman in Ireland or Italy to die from a pregnancy-related cause, and her risk of maternal death is 15 times that of a woman in Greece". At least Florida has one senator who stands for women. While Senator Bill Nelson voted yes, Senator Marco Rubio voted "NO" last night on the renewal of the Violence Against Women Act, a bill that protects women and families from violent crimes, domestic abuse and rape.
