Pitts bloviates:
It is, rather, that ours is a nation so obscenely comfortable in
conflating black with crime that a civilian carrying no badge of
authority nevertheless feels it his right to require that an
American boy walking lawfully upon a public street justify his
presence there. And it is the knowledge that at least some black
men would have done the same.
I guess Pitts isn't familiar with Jesse Jackson's unintentionally honest
assessment:
There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than
to walk down the street and hear footsteps... then turn around and
see somebody white and feel relieved.
