Tokyo: Shibuya's Nonbei Yokocho

Several times now I've seen Shibuya's Nonbei Yokocho on TV (including TV
Japan). I don't know how I'd missed the area when I used to live in
Gotanda many years ago.

Anyone have any good stories about the area? How many drinking
establishments are in the area? What kind of prices are there for beer
and sake?

Yes. The area is a bit run down (and most of the places are dumps),
but if you like a bit of nostalgia its not so bad. One of the better
places for tachinomi.

Don't know if you caught the other information below his sig. He runs a
"travel" web site and he is looking for wannabe writers to send in their
stories for no pay so he can make money off the hit counters. Wonder
how many he has reeled in this way? There is a word for this but Mom
will wash my mouth out with soap and won't let me play online RPGs if I
write it here.

Nope! Just a matter in which I'm personally interested. I watch comedian
Tamori's walking program from time to time on TV Japan via satellite. He
was recently talking about the area on his show. I lived many years in
Gotanda and never heard about Nonbei Yokocho (even though we had a
similar area in Gotanda which is now long gone). I would like to hear
about prices there and I definitely would like to hear whether the area
is foreigner friendly. I hope to visit there in the not-too-distant
future.

Not particularly fussed. I'm 300+ km away.

PS Brown-sama - Having said that, Nonbei Yokocho is more or less, a
dump. What you make of it etc. No foreigner unfriendly as such, but
will vary depending on gaijinness of the gaijin.
