Oh boy, more crapograms!

Chestnut Rau has expressed an interest in SE Edloe.

With South Piper Point unoccupied and West Harbour cleared of Lalo's home and memorial, I propose that Sean/Whiskey Monday shift to South Piper Point and Harbour Island return to the void.

This would be a cost savings for both Sean/Whiskey and Chestnut, and it would return Five Islands to full occupancy/zero slack.

Thoughts? Alternatives?

I get confused easily, so bear with me. I just want to be sure I'm thinking straight in terms of numbers and locations. Piper Point is broken into 8 parcels, IIRC, so that'd mean the south parcel would have the same # of available prims as the current half of Harbour has. I'm just not sure how much 'space' Whiskey needs, and if a loss of some water area is an issue as I know she's used the water on Harbour for various sessions. I can happily continue to plan my park-like setting on Piper Point (South), for what I'm doing. And there is water in Piper Point, both on the south edge plus in the middle 'lake'. My question (to be a good neighbor) would be for the Piper Point SW and SE holders if they'd have an issue If Whiskey sometimes needs a short-term skyplatform above line of sight to 'slop' over the edge of the parcel while doing a shoot?

> So that'd mean the south parcel would have the same # of available prims as the current half of Harbour has.

1/8 Piper = 1666p
1/2 Harbour = 1750p
But Piper Point is a full sim and a few extra prims now and then for a project won't kill anyone.

I know she's used the water on Harbour for various sessions. And there is water in Piper Point, both on the south edge plus in the middle 'lake'.

The central harbor has some mer landscaping and nice flora/fauna/underwaterness in it, but yes - South Piper has unobstructed water to the south. The land could be terraformed to provide more if needed for a shoot.

My question (to be a good neighbor) would be for the Piper Point SW and SE holders if they'd have an issue If Whiskey sometimes needs a short-term skyplatform above line of sight to 'slop' over the edge of the parcel while doing a shoot?

If it's at an altitude that gives plenty of distance from the other parcels, I don't think this would be a problem. Plus or minus one shouldn't kill anyone, but I'd ask Lisa and Rusty to confirm.

Thanks,

A thought came to mind...

Marylis and Watermoon Breeze are standard Homesteads at the $125US rate
Harbour is a grandfathered Homestead at the $95US rate

Would it be odd for me to check with Menubar or Juelia & Dave to see if they want to move to that connected region to save 30 bucks a month (and sink X instead), or is that not fair to the folks who would need to depart Harbour?

(I'm not going to pay $150US for a name change and/or a move, though.)

Thinking out loud...

PROJECTION ALERT: I'm trying to think like others. This often fails. Run for your lives.

It would be less laggy for clients for WHM there than the corner it was before because there would be only one "offshore" sim to child agent on than 2 or 3. (sims handle their own scripts and prims, but clients get hit with the connection and render.)

However, WMB would be kinda difficult to migrate to there because:

1) There's a lot there
2) Store landmarks
3) The sim design has a lot on the South end, which would be kinda inyourface for North Edloe

Probably just as much to move for the Denimores on Marylis, but the commercial/forsale stuff as well as the landmark issues wouldn't be as much a problem. Plus, Marylis is significantly more flexible in layout/design.

Is there *anyone* that would be interested in beach property? I would really seriously consider hopping to Harbour because I have really always wanted my own sim to play with, but....that would leave you with 2 vacancies still.

I shouldn't be even thinking about it because we have to buy a new dishwasher, but it IS my birthday in April and damn it would be a shame to sink a grandfathered homestead....

Krix,

I'm still fine to keep paying for half of harbour, if you want to scoot up onto Ches's side with her scooting down, especially if we think we can fill the other vacancies. I'm not looking to vacate the island; I'm just moderately ambivalent and nothing I do will need all my prims, so any location works for me. I like having open space for Whiskey to play up in the sky for her shoots, so I'm not picky about *where* I am, and otherwise I'm an absentee neighbor :)

So, color me okay with continuing to pay my $47.50 and neighboring w/ Krix. If that's how we all decde to go, I can talk to the 2 or 3 actual friends I have in the world to see if any are a good possible fit or option to fill whatever is vacant at the time.

Yes, I'm aware this means I'm not contributing anything useful here other than I'm happy either way and want to have as many other folks end up happy as possible without Crap going broke subsidizing us (that's my one big concern). Luckily, I think that's probably manageable. I hadn't mentioned the existing open space out in public as this group has been pretty good about filling from within and I didn't want to interject anything odd into the dynamic :) I don't consider it fair because I'm offline so much, and when I am in world I like to just sit around my space and stare at the sunset, or water, or just play with scripts where no one can see me doodling *grin* none of those hobbies get me very involved with my neighbors, but it's thru no fault of said neighbors. I'm just a huge so introvert.

Thanks Sean,
But I actually had in mind the whole homestead, as I have a double parcel now which is almost the same prims as a homestead.
And my main motivation would be to have the whole thing as a sandbox, to tear up and down at will, etc.
Change terrain weekly, that kind of madness.

I'd be a bad roommate :)

It's prob going to be best and easiest for LS to consolidate/sink and not worry about filling vacancies, and would only do the jump if it was part of the solution, not just a lateral move. It is probably not meant to be, but would be nice if one of the other homesteaders was interested in moving over, to save themselves money.

Oh, I'd still be fine to move to PP south, then. I thought you wanted to still have it parceled to split the cost :)

Any money I save in one spot just goes to tip artists, so I'm happy to move south, free up all of harbour for you, then we're only 1 parcel vacant, if that's right?

It would still leave two, as I have a double parcel (west and nwest Nville).
I don't expect me going to Harbour to be more than a remote possibility, but I threw it out there.
I would ONLY do it if there were takers for my spot(s) already, I wouldn't leave the gap just to slide over. That defeats the point. I don't want Crap to subsidize unused land any more than I wanted Chilbo group to carry tier on way more land than was being utilized, I'm sure none of us do.
Basically, unless two folks appeared that were interested in some sandy beach, AND were nonsquishy enough to both get the thumbs up by the community AND were nonsquishy enough to be neighbors, I'm guessing it's probably going to be smartest to cast the net for someone to pick up Harbour and if that doesn't happen, to let the homestead go.

I actually think that having Whiskey and Sean as neighbors in Nowhereville would be pretty cool if you wanted to go for the homestead, Kristin, although I would miss the ship.  Or if they are going to head to Pipers Point, I am sure that we could find someone who loves beaches nad sunsets for that prime real estate....

Let's see.. I posted a note about Harbour on mySL, Flickr, Plurk, and G+.

This is under the assumption that someone that I know directly who would be interested would be following my social feeds.
If they're not following *any* of those, then I'm not going to grovel and beg them in personally.

I not going to spam my greatly-reduced friends list in SL with a notecard. It pisses me off when people still do it to me over available land, so I won't do it to them.
(I still argue with myself over the weekly challenge "gifts" and trinkets every Sunday. I will probably limit those to members of 100 Word Stories, Flash Fiction Writers, and Storytelling Guild from now on.)

I got a G+ note from Fenton Moore/Fenn MacMoragh in SL expressing interest, but I don't think I know him.

Anyone know them?

After six years, I've reached a point where either I or someone in the area needs to know them.

I know, that's getting picky when all signs in SL say open things wider, but I just don't feel like rolling dice anymore.

I do not.

I do understand where you are coming from.
I hope anyone that knows someone that may have an interest and is a good fit is putting feelers out.
Chibi was about the only person I know that is a good fit, and I'm happy that worked out.
Anyone else in my small circle is either comfy where they are, including those in the "happy with my 512" camp, or...meeroo people that I really don't know THAT well.

I have refrained from chiming in here because...well because that is my way.  But, what Crap proposed consolidates the Islands and gets rid of empty spots.  It means Crap is not carrying tier and it acknowledges that the Sl world as we know it is shrinking.

I hate the idea of sinking Harbour as I love that island and it seems crazy to lose a grandfathered sim. At the same time I would really like to reduce my own carrying costs. I used to split the cost of the parcel and now it is all on me so the Edloe spot would work well for me if the folks on the Island will have me.  As I told Crap, all us outlanders want to move to the big island one day if we can.

just a few thoughts

Yes, I agree Chestnut. The plan in place is smart, and it's probably what is going to happen.
I'm not sure when the expiry date is, but I am sure that at this point Harbour is not going to be held on speculation.

And yeah, I have the dream too, but I'd have to eat all my pets first, and I'm not quite ready to do that yet ^^

I like when you chime in.

I do not see myself as the typical "landbaron" or Linden Lab reseller of land, and any of y'all who has said the word "landlord" around me has either gotten growled at for it, or I'll growl at the screen.

I don't want to be that, and I don't think anyone wants that level of roll-up-sleeves and dictatoring to be necessary.

I see myself as the guy who's garage that the neighborhood bulk grocery co-op is held in, with the station wagon to pick up the bulk from Costco or Sams Club.

Sometimes, there's a lot of folks wanting apples.
Sometimes, it's oranges.
Other times, it's kumquats, and people giggle.

The goal is to share, enjoy, people chat around the card table, and not have to deal with the wishy-washy risks, real or imagined.

Friends come over, we work it up on a spreadsheet.
Some people move into the area and join up, some people move away.

It's why I don't sweat a service fee here and there, round down numbers, etc. And as long as people let me know, a few days will not kill me on folks sending in their share of the bill.

Sometimes, folks cover for others here or there, but slipping something extra... really, this isn't about that.

However, the very rare times someone has taken the slack in what passes for a system for granted or deliberately pushed my buttons, yeah, the eyebrow goes up and the "You've got to be shitting me" comes out. But that happens less and less over time as folks get to know each other, "mistakes" get resolved, etc.

Despite the bugs and the annoyances and this and that, I still believe there's always a way to work it out so it makes sense, an attempt is made to make everybody happy, and the least number of people (with a goal of zero) are unhappy.

Yeah, one day there will come a time to ponder further contraction or migration to other grids/platforms/whatever. Despite the folks that Draxtor highlights in his new series (which is well worth watching), I just don't know, eh.

Time will tell.

FYI, from G+:

Vince Terrazas12:46 PM (edited)
I was just thinking about the 5 Islands this morning, I would love to re-create my virtual space there if it's up for consideration.
Vince Terrazas12:48 PM
I'll need to get with +Audra Terrazas and go over the finances but I'm going to need something to do for the next 8 months LOL :)

That's Fricker Fraker.

I'll ask him how much space he'd need and where, and we'll see what we all can work up.

Vince Terrazas12:54 PM
+Laurence Simon minimum space req would be the size I had on Piper, max would be a double of that. So a (GF) homestead in $ is not much more, but is what I need to discuss with+Audra Terrazas   As far as prims, same input applies, even though the hs is on a lower cpu/scale
Vince Terrazas12:55 PM
I just logged in and saw this so I will track back a see what you have open.... maybe after a nap  LOL

So, if I've been keeping score correctly:

- If he wants the whole Homestead, that keeps Harbour going and unified.
- If he wants the two parcels, then that puts Kristine's scenario into play.
- If he takes a nap, shhhhhhhhhh everybody be quiet and let him nap.

Stay tuned,

Y'all just let me know what/where I can fit in. If fricker wants harbour and I drop down to Piper south, I'm good. But, if that falls thru, I can just pay for all of harbour w/o sweating it. Then we're only short 1 parcel for a bit. Unless Fricker wants something that size.

Doing quick math: If ches moves down to Edloe, and fricker fills the slot on Piper if it's big enough for him, and I just added the other half of harbour, we're back to full, and if Ches moves down to Edloe, and I move to Piper South and fricker takes all of harbour, we're full. Dun dun DUNNNN! I'd sure love to hang out w/ fricker again :)
