Howdy, y'all! Welcome to the new Five Islands Google Group!
We're still five people short on the list, but they can join in on the discussion when they get here. Or they can go WTF when their homes get volunteered for various projects.
Speaking of which, the first topic for discussion/decision-making is a community Halloween build.
The big question is, as with all real estate matters: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION?
Last year, West Piper Point was available for a while, so we all threw together a creepy and scary haunted house up there. But now, the Five Islands are fully occupied.
One possibility is Northwest Edloe. Not only would it be a wide open area for plenty of the creepy-scary, but it would give everyone an opportunity to pick up art that's been there for a few months and come up with a new layout/assortment when the Halloween Season is over? (Plus, Rocky and Jane used to put up haunted houses there every year, so it's got a base level of unbridled psychic energy in the terraforming.)
A haunted mansion on top of the mountain on Northeast Edloe could work. (Raz had his mansion up there before, and there was a bit of creepy-scary in there all those years.)
Another possibility would be a haunted galleon in the middle of Nowhereville, Piper Point, or Isis Cove. (Although I wouldn't blame folks for being burnt out after the brutal and exhausting Talk Like A Pirate Day.)
Or are any of y'all up to volunteering your homes and hideaways for some Devil's Night vandalism?
Other questions: - Theme? - Scripting/animation limit? - Do we want to put the build in whatever Destination Guide category the Labbies make for Halloween? (Assuming they make one like they did for SL9B and Winter and other recent community events)

Still getting things together over at the far end of Piper Point/Lotus
Water Gardens. Everything is full fathom five at present as we try out some
new ideas after the recent reign of fire I inadvertently unleashed with a
visiting dragon builder's 'gift' of redsun floaters. Again sorry dear Lulu.
:-) with all those roaming fireballs chasing you through your house.
Anyway, most happy to make any space available (for a sunken Octopussy Gdn
of creepy ocean thingys, or floating punkin heads????)
Frankly, I may be a powerful resource best kept on the back burner until I
graduate beyond the deeper mysteries of many unhappy auto-returns.

If prims are not an issue, perhaps C and I can have the evil labortory
reinstalled on a platfom and then perhaps we can put a teleporter up there
elsewhere to direct visitors there???

Prims are *always* issue, even though we're nowhere near the 15,000p limit
on any island. (or near the 13,000p number I start to itch at.)
If the art walk in NW ends up hosting the build, then whatever's not being
used on that spot is the prim budget. (plus whatever others aren't using
and willing to lend)
If someone volunteers their spot, then whatever they're not using is the
prim budget. (plus whatever others aren't using and willing to lend)
Just keep in mind that if someone volunteers their parcel and the group
wants this listed in the Destination Guide, you'll need to set the landing
spot for the parcel to the build. However, after the Sexy Vampy Gothy Fun
screwup by Blondin last year and the double-screwup on the Clocktree, I'm
averse to associating with the Destination Guide for anything. (I don't
list 100WS readings there anymore because someone mistook that as a request
to add the park to the guide, and a glitch at the Lab caused it to be the
first listing for several days - newbie flood!)

Since I'm right across the Edloe/Harbour Strait from Sean's Art Walk,
I agree with Crap about the Dest.Guide. Rather not feel the need to
noob-proof my stuff...
On the other hand, there's a nice swath of water between me and Sean,
and I have 524 "land impact" to spare, if someone wants to plunk down
a haunted galleon or something similar in the Strait. Build is set to
Harbour group... let me know if anyone needs to be added.

The destination guide is Not necessary. I still see zombies/vamps sitting on my porch every now and then.
Ask Marx if she wants in she's the listening room woman ... Maybe we can do the whole version War of the Worlds with Justin Hayward and Richard Nurtin narrating.
Ideas for our own party...

Just remembered I have an 'alien disco' which works through a holodeck
system. I can transport groups up to any distance in the sky via a joint
and round 'ezy-seat' where we can hang out. I can throw that into the mix.
One thing I can suggest is some events like holding a mock burial. You can
start thinking of who or what you want to bury. Another idea a 'forever
midnight' party. Keep your time position always on midnight.

Other questions:
- Theme?
- Scripting/animation limit?

Subject: Re: Community Halloween Build?
Just remembered I have an 'alien disco' which works through a holodeck system. I can transport groups up to any distance in the sky via a joint and round 'ezy-seat' where we can hang out. I can throw that into the mix.
One thing I can suggest is some events like holding a mock burial. You can start thinking of who or what you want to bury. Another idea a 'forever midnight' party. Keep your time position always on midnight.

Other questions:
- Theme?
- Scripting/animation limit?
- Do we want to put the build in whatever Destination Guide category the Labbies make for Halloween? (Assuming they make one like they did for SL9B and Winter and other recent community events)
Floor's open, let's see how this goes.
Thanks,

I'd be up for DJ'ing a monster mash at some point. I wont be around the
weekend of the 27th & 28th but I'm home on the 30th & 31st or can do a week
prior.
