As the fall concludes and we move forward into the winter season I would like to share of information with all of you. I apologize in advance for such a large email, we just have lots of information to get out to you.
Today marks the 1st day of the renewal period. Register today to lock down 2012 pricing for all of 2012. I would first like to take this opportunity to thank Alan Serure, Anne Smith, and Joe Grady for the countless hours they spent volunteering for the Southeast zone the last few years. Dr. Serure has served us all as the SEZ chair for the last 4 years, Mrs. Smith as the treasurer of the board, and Mr. Grady as the ODP coordinator. These positions are often thankless jobs that require hard work and are unpaid. If you run across any of these individuals, please take the time to thank them for their contribution to the Southeast and to water polo. The position of zone chair is a difficult one that requires a huge amount of time and an incredible amount of patients. Dr. Serure did an amazing job these last 4 years bringing the zone together and helping to improve and grow water polo throughout the region. Mrs. Smith donated her time and expertise to run the finances of the zone and deserves are most sincere gratitude. Mr. Grady has the difficult responsibility of coordinating all of the ODP efforts in our zone, using his personal time in order to book pools and arrange travel while fielding questions from parents, coaches, and athletes.
With their departure, a new zone board has been chosen to help the Southeast grow and develop over the next 4 years. Please help these new board members in their roles governing the zone:

Matt Tomlinson (Central FL) Representative 2-year term
Garrett Freeman (Atlanta, GA) 2-year term
Tim Davis (Tennessee) 2-year term
We are also running leagues in South and Central Florida this winter. With swimming ending and teams starting to transition into Water Polo I would like to get a League going this winter season. I am structuring the league so that athletes can play more games in a safe, organized, sanctioned, and insured environment. Communication:
We have created a Facebook group to facilitate the league. We plan on using this to keep everyone updated on schedules, scores, and standings. This is a great option for coaches that want to share info with their players without having to send out lots of emails. Just send this to our players and they can see when the games are and get scores and other info. Members are also welcome to post pictures on the group page.

Hosting and Cost:
Anyone that has access to a pool should try and host at least 1 league date, PLEASE SEND SPECIFIC DATES, TIMES, AND AGE GROUPS YOU WOULD LIKE TO HOST AT YOUR FACILITY. Teams will be charged $30 per game for pool rent and officials (half goes to the host and the other half goes to the official).
If individuals do not have a team participating and want to play on a pick-up team, please have them bring $3 per game they want to participate in.
Insurance and Sanctioning:
We have set up a League sanction that will cover participants for sanctioning and insurance for coaches, officials, and athletes for all games, practices, and during their transportation to and from events from November 1st- February 5th.
If you are not a current USA Water Polo member than coaches and referees are free and athletes are only $30. If you and your players are members of USA Water Polo then the league is free, you must simply register. Direction to register is described below
Go to usawaterpolo.org and click "Join Now" on the top right.
Look for "US League Memberships" and underneath click: Click here to Join US Leagues! (For Bronze, USL Coach or USL Referee Memberships.)
Next look for the drop- down menu and select: "Southeast Winter League 2012-2013" and follow instructions.
Please give me your feedback on this league and send me dates when you can host and let me know if you have any questions. If anyone would like to help organize a league in any other areas of the zone please contact me as well.
