Hello,

I am a student at the University of Pacific in Stockton, California.
We are currently trying to use the R2 Fish School with zebrafish, but
are having no luck isolating the fish for training. If you have any
suggestions, they would be much appreciated!

Thank You,
Bryon Miller

By "isolating the fish for training" do you mean rewarding one of your zebrafish individually?  If so, I'm afraid your only choice is probably physical isolation during training, as the R2 kit recommends.  Can't you put one (or two) of your fish in a tank by themselves?

Zebras could be a little tough, too, as they prefer to be in schooling groups for safety, and may not do well when isolated.

Dean,
Yes we are trying to isolated one fish at a time for training.
Unfortunately, the fish will not eat when isolated. so we are trying
to figure out how to isolate the fish so they are "comfortable" enough
to eat alone.

I now understand your dilemma.  Have you tried a clear tank divider?  That might give you isolated zebras a sense of being with brothers and sisters, but allow you to train them in isolation. Here is a link to a divider, which you can get an any pet store:

It might be worth a try, although the tendency of zebras to school makes me uncertain whether this will do the trick.

thanks for the suggestion Dean. I'll try out one of these dividers and see if it affords me some better luck. I'll lkeep you up to date on my progress.
