I am guessing that the_permalink() is doing the printing.
try to use get_permalink($post->ID) instead,
Assuming you call it in the context of a post (if not ask in WordPress
forums).

almost there. I tried this:

the out put is this:

It basically prints out the current permalink followed by the number

the example was a bit outdated.
you should use fs_api_get_page_views, which is documented here :

After reading hte wiki and finding the api page, I guess I need to use
this function: fs_api_get_hit_count but I can't seem to get it right.
I'd like to show something like: viewed: XXX jsut show the total
number of views for each page and post.
can someone review this code for me please?

I got this error when i use Buffer hits on wpmu:
"Unexpected output: FireStats error processing pending hits: Database
error: Illegal mix of collations (utf8_general_ci,COERCIBLE) and
(latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation 'regexp'
MySQL Version: 5.0.85-community
SQL Query:
SELECT url,count(url_pattern) c FROM firestats_excluded_urls right

this is not supported by firestats, but feel free to write such an
import tool.

I've got three WordPress sites on three different domains: kungfu-

Would be nice to use existing website logs to better tune Firestats
statistics, importing them or just parsing them and getting most
important data.

Fors instance, I've installed Firestats just today, after a month that
the blog was already public, but I cannot see previous statistics,
when would be technically possible importing this data.

give it some time, the problem may just disappear after a while.
(FireStats caches the response for two weeks, if I am not mistaken).

if it does not disappear, there may be a server configuration problem
(possibly php restrictions).

if you can't figure it out, you can just turn off the new version check

This seems to have started around the 1.6.2 release though I'm not
sure about that. Whenever I log into the Firestats page, I am greeted
with this:

Failed to check version at [link],
reason : could not resolve the host domain "files.firestats.cc"
