Do I understand it correctly that the HTML panel displays the
"script pannel deactivated" message?

Could you provide a test page that can be used to reproduce/see such
behavior? If I can reproduce that on my machine I'll fix it.

a task bar? Do you mean Firefox toolbar? Or do you mean Firebug
toolbar
in detached window?

Sounds like a bug, but we need detailed steps to reproduce it.

Here is what I have tried:

1) Launch Firefox load e.g. www.google.com
2) Open Firebug by pressing F12
3) Detach Firebug (Open Firebug in a New window)
4) Click on the Inspector icon in detached Firebug window
5) Firefox window is focused and moved to top.

So, I don't see the problem...

Sorry for my poor English, will try to be a little more precise. It
happens on Iframes presented as "modal" boxes with Javascript.

I open the Firebug pannel in the same window (bottom) Script
de-activated. Lets chose HTML tab. If i open a modal box, the firebug
pannel close itself and the screen is not sowing the black background
in the area Firebug was.
Ok, let's open the modal box first then firebug (same window again) .
Click on the inspector icon, then go in the modal box on some elements.
Firebug follows ok. I click on an element to fix-it in the firebug
explorer, right ? Then, return with my mouse in the firebug pannel.
The firebug explorer continue to follow, i loose the point where i
was, and when my mouse arrive in the panel, i'm at the top of the
Iframe document in the firebug panel.
Now lets try with firebug in a separate window. I open the main html
page. Everything is OK. I open the modal box: the tab of Firebug
changes and goes on the "script" one with "deactivated script panel"
message inside (Sorry they are in french in my version).
And same behavior, no way to work anymore, if Firebug is opened in a
separate window. SaAme behavior, and the separate window will not focus
if i click on the "explore" icon witch is on the bottom pannel of my
Firefox.

Oh, btw, I'm under Seven 64.

Well, i'm sorry, but you will have to register on my site to see
that (those problematic features are reserved to members).
http://www.street-photo.fr/fr/forum
Now, once logged, return to this page:
http://www.street-photo.fr/fr/forum and click on the
"outil" -> "Partage de fichier" for example.
Now, just try to work with firebug in this modal box.

Fell free to ask anything you would need, if i can help with some
test case.
Have a nice way, and congratulation for your fantastic tool witch
had helped all Internet to be better, and saved millions of
development's hours near thousand of people like me.

I don't speak French so, I am a bit lost on the page..
(and also in your instructions)

Here is what I did:

1) load http://www.street-photo.fr/fr/component/user/register
2) Click on "Mot de passe oublié ?", a modal dialog appears
3) Open Firebug, select the HTML panel
4) Use Inspector to inspect the modal box
5) Edit something in the modal box (using the HTML panel)
6) Inspect something outside the modal box
7) Detach Firebug window, refresh the page, repeat from clicking the
link...

All seems to be working for me.

Do you see any errors in Firefox Error Console?

Could you try Firebug 1.10a9?

Honza, I've seen one of the behaviors Christophe describes. When the Script panel is manually deactivated, if a javascript error happens on the page afterwards, Firebug sometimes switches to the (deactivated) Script panel.

Christophe, si je peux être utile, envoie-moi (directement) les instructions en français et je les traduirai pour Honza
If I can be of any help, Christophe, send me (offlist) your instructions in French and I will translate them for Honza.

Ah! Can you post detailed instructions how to reproduce this?
Thanks!

HTML file:
<html><script> setTimeout(function() { error(); }, 1000); </script></html>

Open this, open firebug, disable Script, click HTML tab, then refresh.
Wait 1 second.

I can't reproduce this with: Firebug 1.10a10 + Firefox 16
Can you check with Firebug 1.10?

Thanks for the update!

We are not working on 1.9.2 at the moment so, I would recommend
using 1.10, which is pretty stable (even if marked alpha)
