I detached Firebug from the Firefox window and now the minimize and show in
window buttons next to the Close Firebug button don't work. When I click
them, they do nothing.

I'm on Firefox 16 on Windows 7.

This bug has been already fixed and the patch is included in Firebug
1.11a4

The patch is also included in Firebug 1.10.4, which will be released
and available on AMO this week.

A workaround for this issue:

1) Firebug (icon) menu -> Options -> Reset All Firebug Options
2) Press OK in the "Are you sure..." dialog
3) Close detached Firebug window (by clicking on window close button)
4) Open Firebug again (e.g, by pressing F12 key)

Now Firebug UI should be displayed at the bottom of your browser
window again.
