Hi,

Please see the attached screenshot to further understand the problem.
For last few days firebug text is not visible. I am assuming both
background and foreground colors are same(white). Anybody faced this
problem ?

Firefox with fresh profile with no other extensions except Firebug
itself.
Ubuntu version intrepid with all updates installed.

All my web work has ceased because of this issue. Please somebody
point me in right direction.

Are you using a different firefox theme than the default one? I have
Ubuntu intrepid (Gnome WM) with all the updates and FB is working OK.
From what I can see in the screenshot, the firefox theme isn't the
default for Firefox in Ubuntu (at least not in Gnome), so your problem
may be related to that.

Hope this helps ;)

Finally able to pin point the problem.
Firebug views are by default looking for mac font "Monaco" then
falling back to monospace if it isn't there. I have been playing with
non working monaco font from mac for last few days and forgot to
remove it. Now everything is working fine.

Thanks for the prompt support.
