When I inspect an element, it no longer shows the editable styles at
the right hand column, but it's showing like readonly text of the
stylesheet.

Do you mean the view you get if you set Firebug > HTML > Style >
Options > Show Computed Styles?

If not, please give the Firefox and Firebug version numbers. As far as
I know the Style side panel never shows the CSS source.

U know like there are three tabs in the right hand corner, namely
style, layout and dom? The style usually shows the css of that
particular element when you inspect it, but now it just shows a list
of read only styles. Not editable at all.

I uploaded a screenshot: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=308kuuv&s=5

Your screen shot shows the Style view with option set to Show Computed
Styles. Change the option and the view will be the one you want.

We have an open request to change the Style view to separate the two
views in to two panels:

I am no longer seeing the option to view computed styles in Firebug
1.4.0a25. Has this feature been moved or removed intentionally?

The option has not been removed. But, the options all moved, maybe
that is the problem? All of the options are now on the mini-menu on
each tab. Take a look and let us know.

Ah yes. There they are. Clicking on the down arrow in the 'Style' tab
reveals the mini-menu options for 'Show Computed Style' & 'Show User
Agent CSS'.

Thanks John!
