Since I upgraded to Firefox 10, Firefox crashes as soon as I start
using Firebug 1.9.1 and either look at the DOM tab or type some
function name in the console (even "alert").
I have tested this with Firebug as only active extension.
Downgrading to Firefox 9.0.1 solves the problem.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04LTS . I get Firefox from
https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/firefox-stable . "lucid"
has firefox 9.0.1 but "lucid-updates" has firefox 10

so is this fixed? I cannot find the start icon after upgrading to 10.0 browser. Is firebug compatible with latest firefox upgrade?

Yes, Firebug 1.9.1 is compatible with Firefox 10

To find the icon:

1) check Firefox's "Customize toolbar" dialog
2) try a new profile

Here is what I am doing:

1) Right click on Firefox tab bar. Try to have just one tab and click next to the "Open a new tab" button ("+"). Then pick "Customize"

2) Or display the old Firefox top menu (instead of the orange top-left button) and pick: View -> Toolbars -> Customize

3) If Firebug's start button (a toolbar button) is not on a toobar or add-on bar then it should be in the Customize dialog

4) If nothing above works, something weird is happening to your Firefox, I would recommend to create a new Firefox profile and install Firebug again.

Hello again,

I re-upgraded to FF10, created a new profile. Installed Firebug 1.9.1 from the add-ons menu.
The moment I peek in the DOM tab, or activate the console and start typing something and auto-complete kicks in, Firefox crashes.
So, back to FF9 for now...

I tried on Ubuntu 9.04 and 10.04 LTS (both VM) + Firefox 10 + Firebug 1.9.1 and I can't reproduce the crash.

Please create a new report in bugzilla - there is a direct link on the crash report page.
and provide detailed steps how to reproduce.

Please cross link the bug report here so, I can cc myself.

Thanks!

Did you try 32bit or 64bit? My machine is 64 bit.
In the crash report, the "App Notes" are: GLXtest process failed (exited with status 1): GLX version older than the required 1.3
I googled that and found many Firefox related crashes...
Anyway, as you suggest, I will do a bugzilla report (when I have time).

I have the same problem, but it also occurs with the build in Web
Console in Firefox 10. Running 64bit Ubuntu 10.04.

Same problem here, and also 64bit. I started seeing it maybe a couple
months ago as I was using FF10 from the Next repo. I was hoping it was
fixed when FF10 became stable, but no such luck.
