I really don't like the UI changes, they introduce more clutter and
doesn't resemble any of the other Firefox UI elements, I love fire
bug, I think it's the best, but this new UI is strange, I rely heavily
on the inspect element function but now there's to buttons the that
upper left corner which I care nothing about, and I can't configure
it...

If there are UI changes, let me customize the UI a bit, let me just
hide some of this so I can live my developer life my way...

Indeed - I think the buttons are strange.

There are three buttons on the upper left:
Firebug Icon Menu -- as in all versions of Firebug
Inspect -- currently a flashlight. We hope to change it in the
future.
Break on Next -- currently for Javascript, but in 1.5 it will
have functions for all panels.

It should definitely be wider. Inspect is a button that gets used a
lot. It would be good too add back the 'Inspect' text to make it
easier to hit.

Note that keyboard combo Control-Shift-C and context menu item
"Inspect Element", also trigger Inspect, and there is a Firefox
toolbar customization button which is about twice as big available.

What was wrong with FF 1.3, that interface was a lot, and I mean a lot
better. I don't mind the Firebug icon, but it's taking up an awful lot
of space, branding by all means but it should be that intrusive.

I want the least intrusive most minimalistic way possible, I'm a
developer first, usability is just accessible and small, in
comparison.

Changes to the panel-tab structure in 1.4 made the text based buttons
visually confused with the panel tabs. Icons more clearly distinguish
the buttons from the tabs.

I have been skeptical of icons vs text, but I've changed my mind. When
I think of a UI operation, my mind comes up with the icon just as well
as the text. Icons do not require localization and they are more
compact on the user interface.

This change was not taken to improve the brand or loveliness of
Firebug. The change was taken to clarify the roles of the UI elements
and prepare for the introduction of many new panels in 1.5.

The new appearance is good. It is more important to focus on fixing
bugs in functionality.

Someone just made the icons smaller, I thank someone for that, I'm
happy for it.
