Cannot install Firebug

I am unable to install the current Firebug on my Firefox 3.5.4 Vista
SR2 machine. I don't have many other add-ons but I also tried
disabling them all. It appears to install, asks to restart Firefox,
but there's no bug in bottom bar. I installed it without incident on
my home machine...everything the same except it's a 64 bit Vista. I
read a previous post about updating the Flash player and I also tried
that. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

I don't understand these install problems.

I can only suggest you try a new Firefox profile, some hints in the
FAQ:

I am also having problems on a 64-bit system, although I am using
Windows 7 with Firefox 3.5.5.

Firefox does show the Firebug add-on under extensions. But, I do not
see the Firebug in the bottom right corner.

Ideas would be welcome because I miss Firebug.
