Can the contrast between the text and the background be added somewhere? My suggestion is perhaps in the "Layout" tab of the right panel "HTML" is being displayed or maybe even start a new tab called "accessibility" where features for accessibility could be added.  Contrast is just the first of many.

I realize that often it would not be correct in the case of a background image with text on top of it but often it would be correct.  Most of the time, there is just the background color and text color to deal with.  By "contrast" I am referring as defined here: http://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20/visual-audio-contrast-contrast.html#contrast-ratiodef

And adding in if it meets AAA or AA criteria would be extra cool (based upon font size). (as defined here: http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/#visual-audio-contrast-contrast and here: http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/#visual-audio-contrast7)

It's not 100% clear to me what you ask for here. Is it a way to change the display contrast of a page? If so, isn't that something Firefox should support and not Firebug? If you believe, this feature should be in Firebug, then please clarify how the feature should work exactly.

@Monica:
Did you want to post something constructive?

Hmm... Did you follow the links?

There is a value that can be computed called "contrast ratio" that could be displayed.  It is a computed value based upon the foreground color and the background color.  In the HTML window, when a tag is selected, that will determine the foreground and background colors.  The contrast ratio can then be computed and displayed.

Ok, I understand now. I think this would make a good extension. Feel free to create a new issue for that.
