Inspect Element contextual menu item seems not to work anymore in
1.8b1. I tried it in both Firefox 4.0.1 and 5.0b3 under Windows XP
SP3, Windows 7 SP1, and Mac OS X 10.6.7.

I was running Firefox 5b2 (on Linux) with Firebug 1.8b1 but even w/o using any firebug functions (completely untouched) it seems to be the reasons my Firefox consuming around 1,5GB RAM and UI gets sluggish. I've reverted to 1.7.2 which doesn't expose this issue.
We need to have some scenario describing what to do to reproduce and
fix the problem. What have you beeing doing during that Firefox
session? Downloading any huge files?

Hi, 1.8b1 does not work in localized versions of Firefox (I tried
German 4.0.1 and 5b3). When clicking one of the firebug buttons
nothing happens. Instead of menu entries you just see the names of the
variables. It is not possible to open the console.
I then installed an English version and it worked just fine.
The alphas before did not have this issue.

Chris
P.S.
My first post seems to have been swallowed by google groups?

1.8b1 doesn't work at all for me. I'm unable to open the console, both
buttons don't respond to left or right-clicks. I tried with FF 4.01
and FF 5b3. I'm running Windows 7 x64 SP 1.
I had not problems with any of the alphas before.
All the best

I have just downloaded Firefox 4.0.1 German, installed Firebug 1.8b1
and I don't see any problem. Pressing F12 (or using the toolbar
button) opens Firebug UI and panels seems to be working.
Please try to create a new Firefox profile and let us know if it
helped.

You were right, it works in a new profile. So I started disabling my
other addons to find which one causes the conflict.
It's Marc Gueury's HTML Validator: http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/ The problem only happens with 1.8b1. Just my luck: the two addons I
need the most in conflict with one another :-)
Here's hoping you can find the reason why...
Thanks

Thanks for the info!
I have fixed the problem in Firebug 1.8 branch (R10850)
In case we'll decide to release Firebug 1.7.2 the fix will be in there
too
(but so far we don't have such plan)
You can use Firebug 1.8b2 as soon it's available (on Friday this week
or next week)
